An Update From Dark0ne
After almost 24 years of running Nexus Mods, the time has come for me to step back from the day-to-day management of the site. This isn't a decision I've made lightly - far from it - but one I think i...

It's sad, I hoped for Angrboda mod. What changes now?
Honestly, not a lot, at least not from your side of things.
Yep. At least tell us who you sold to. Not doing that at all means it is very bad news.So basically the deal is so shady that ex-owner not even announcing the new one.
Kinda shit.
everyone place your woke betsIt can't be worse than it was under the old ownership. Right?
Right?
There really is no reason for me to get mods from Nexus other than it having what i want. So if what i want stop showing up there, I will just move.everyone place your woke bets
I hope its not worse![]()
Stellar Blade flood of mods broke the dude.Source: https://www.nexusmods.com/news/15301?mtm_kwd=newsfeed
After almost 24 years of running Nexus Mods, the time has come for me to step back from the day-to-day management of the site. This isn't a decision I've made lightly - far from it - but one I think is in both my and the community's best interests.
So yes, the ownership of Nexus Mods has changed hands, but I want to be clear, this isn't some corporate "exit" or a backroom deal. This is me doing something I probably should've done years ago: taking care of myself. Reclaiming some headspace. And finally letting go of the idea that I have to do everything and be responsible for everything myself.
Lets see if any of theI'm going with worst case scenario here. Nexus was already getting shit before he sold.
Still one of the most famous if not the only one site having modding library with amazing features.I'm going with worst case scenario here. Nexus was already getting shit before he sold.
This is gonna suck hard.
Really regretting not buying the lifetime membership when it was still new.
New ownership is just slang for incoming monetization to recover investment.
After reading his statement.....my impression is nothing will change (or it gets even worse). He seems to be happy who is in charge now and in line with his "values"!!!Lets see if any of thestaff get the boot, a lot of the issues are from them.
I wonder how much that site is worth.
Where will people get their neatly curated mods with easy to use software for installation then ?It´s been a crap site with crap moderation for years... It could close tomorrow and nothing of value would be lost.
It'll take a long time though. I've seen stuff like this happen a lot. In most cases users prefer convenience over principles. As long as Nexus continues to be the biggest and easiest repository of user made mods, it'll continue to be popular.Maybe, but if this happens people will just migrate en masse to some other new site. It'll take time, but that's what would happen in the end. My next best guess will be that the new owners will increase the amount of ads and make them mandatory to watch before download button appears.
Someone paid money for that site with the goal to earn money, so the "values" will go where the money is.After reading his statement.....my impression is nothing will change (or it gets even worse). He seems to be happy who is in charge now and in line with his "values"!!!![]()
gamebanana despite the horrible ui/uxGenuine question, what good modding websites exist if people say Nexus is a bad one.
Ideally you dont need extra software to use and install mods. This is just for ultra lazy people who cant even copy&paste anymore or people who are installing thousands of mods at once. I for myself never used the Vortex manager....not once. Just gimme the files and I am fine. Every site can do that and there are already enough alternatives. Its just the people who are too lazy and convenient to change their own habits, even if a company acts against their own interests.Where will people get their neatly curated mods with easy to use software for installation then ?
I checked that one out a few times and yeah, the website looked like it was designed in the 2000s and was awkward to find shit on.gamebanana despite the horrible ui/ux

I use moddb more, but that one is focus on old/classic games like DOOM or RTS stuff.Genuine question, what good modding websites exist if people say Nexus is a bad one.
If you have to say that this is 100% an "exit". Good for him.but I want to be clear, this isn't some corporate "exit" or a backroom deal.
Everything dies eventually, especially in ownership transitions.Still one of the most famous if not the only one site having modding library with amazing features.
Nexus should never die.
Wonder if it's some shitty Private Equity.Someone paid money for that site with the goal to earn money, so the "values" will go where the money is.
The comments under his statement are really funny.
Unfortunately no other site supports programmatic access that is needed for API based tools like Wabbajack.Everything dies eventually, especially in ownership transitions.
The absolute best answer to this is to stop removing mods that they don't like. Like these are game files for a single player game. How dare someone tell me I can't change how an NPC looks in a single player game I bought? Like what are we even doing?First thing new owner will do is asking "How can i make this more profitable to get my money back?". Expect more ads, more expensive subs and so on. Maybe a nice little paywall here and there.
Yup. That is exactly what I mean. As long as Nexus makes things ultra easy it will always exist in the market and rightfully so. None other has that great library, discussion or search functionality. Losing Nexus will be a huge loss.Ideally you dont need extra software to use and install mods. I wonder if this will affect antiwoke mods.
