This is so cringe what the hell.
It might be the same show where they unplug a monitor to stop a hackerThis is so cringe what the hell.
Maybe this is all an AR campaign for the next watchdogsthere's a watchdogs joke here and shit security that requires a cell phone, a drone, and parkor to hack Ubisoft.
Maybe we'll see that original version of Zombi U, that cancelled Splinter Cell, the PoP that's been in dev hell, and Beyond Good and Evil 2.

Now if the hackers can put $13m in everyone's Wells Fargo or Coinbase accounts...Hopefully these people didn't have Internet facing connections or patched as soon as the exploit was published.

An exploit was released Christmas Eve. Hackers immediately look for exploitable databases before patches are applied - find a big one and go to town. Nothing more complicated than that. No more motivation needed than it being possible, likely for a short window and the possibility of getting some money through ransom maybe.A movie script:
-Company A is looking to acquire/takeover/stripmine Ubisoft (e.g., buying IPs or taking them private)
-Current prices are too high for what Company A wants to pay, so they consider unethical means to lower costs
-Hires hacker group to hit Uni while they're weakened, resulting in negative PR and lower costs of sale
-A plot hole would be that releasing the source code for games would also hurt Company A's product value, so they tell the hackers not to sell it to anyone but Company A/or to hold on to it, but then Company A would need to pay the hackers more than the hackers would get for selling, but also less than the gain Company A gains by hurting Ubi's reputation.
I dunno, I don't trust much these days so my mind first went to corporate espionage. Is there anything to this strategy? If the hack isn't corporate-backed, what is the motivation for hackers to do this?
Disney contract rider: "Can we make the jawline bigger? Like, HUGE?"People should care because there's a none zero chance sensitive player data was also taken. Also, between Avatar and Star Wars, there's likely a lot of information on the licensing agreements between Ubisoft and Disney that those companies would rather remain private.
Exploit details were released Christmas Eve.Why didn't they do this before the Saudi's got involved?
