Their defense wasn't really horrible. It finished 16th in ppg. The offense was 14th.

I would expect the team to be active in securing a guard or tackle in free agency. My belief is that Hankins will be resigned and JPP likely will not given the money commitment the team has made to Vernon. It's also a good opportunity to look at locking up Pugh long term as well.

I expect the same regarding Big Hank and JPP. I don't see them dishing out so much money on all four guys up front and with JPP's age and durability, they opt to let go of paying him handsomely and keeping the big boys in the middle. Sounds like Goodson is on the rise and got more PT as the season wore; that said they still need to address the LB situation. Maybe they re-sign Keenan Robinson but even so he has a questionable history on his health.

Big off-season for Jerry to shore up and fix the OL. Deeply interested in how he does it -- I would love to nab Zeitler from Cincinnati to plug in at RG and move over Flowers to RT. Let go of Cruz and sign a vet (Britt? I don't know) to challenge for the other outside job, three way battle between FA, King and Lewis.

That is really surprising. The few Titans games I watched, to see how MM was doing, it seemed like they moved the ball down the field no problem but they D couldnt get the big stops that they needed.

I love Mariota's game but he still has some things to improve. I got to see some games too and I was so envious of that OL and run game. Reminded me of the '08 season with Bradshaw+Jacobs hammering fools with O'Hara/Snee/Mckenzie.

Apple is good but getting Conklin would've been so awesome.

For those keeping score at home: Panthers would only take a $3.5 million dead money hit (2m if he's a June 1 cut) if they were to cut Jonathan Stewart. Because Getts is into that kind of thing.

On yesterdays BGN podcast they had one of the Eagles beat writers on saying that they wont find any trade partners and that they are going to cut him. It is going to be Chip's last year all over again, cut a guy on the OL and then the replacement gets hurt and you are totally screwed. I get that they are in terrible cap shape this year and need to fill a ton of holes but it sucks to get rid of a guy that is at least solid and have to trust an unproven guy.

He gets pushed back at the LOS far too often. That isn't his strength. It worked well with Chip cause we were always moving and we needed someone to block at the 2nd level, which he is great at. With Doug running the show, and Kelce only being 280ish lbs, he's just not big enough to get the job done. How many times this year did he get pushed back and the pocket would instantly collapse on Wentz?

Seumalo was a beast at guard this year, so I can see why they have faith in him taking over at C which was projected to be his best position on the line anyway.

The Eagles threw the 6th most passes in the NFL and ended up with the 24th most yards passing this season. That is an insane stat to me. I cant believe the discrepancy was so large. Obviously a lot of the blame falls to the WRs, but doug calling so many passes at or behind the LOS also contributed to this. Wentz's accuracy, especially down the field also seemed to suffer as the year went on and definitely played a part.

Yup considering 3 of our centers got injured for the year. Our starting left guard was out for the year, also went through 2 right tackles, had to shift our starting right guard to center until he got injured.

All part of the plan.

There is a minimum salary floor you have to maintain in the NFL. One source on the internet says it is 89% of the salary cap. Yet, there must be more to it because that would mean your minimum salary would be about $140 million, or $15 million less than the salary cap. And many teams were under that. I am just confused.

The ramifications of not hitting the floor are based on a 3 year average before you get penalties. It gives teams some flexibility to play with salaries

With the cap rising like it is the league needs to seriously consider raising the roster limit from 53 to 60 and gameday rosters from 46-53

The gameday roster is the more shameful of the two. How many injuries could be prevented if those players at the end of the roster were allowed to play?

Thanks for the explanation. Seems like that would mean that the 49ers, Jaguars, and especially the Browns need to spend major money next year. If you have to average 89% they have a lot of making up to do.

Yes. Its set up to prevent teams from purposely tanking like in the NBA and MLB.

Browns last year were a good example. Don't spend , because you are likely to be bad anyway, get some higher picks and spend that wad in the next two years

SDSU notably offered multiple times to help fund, upgrade, and replace said ancient board. Chargers declined every time

It wasn't even the amount of them as much as the situations in which he called them. Passing behind LOS on 3rd and 1 or 2? Why?? May as well just run in that situation.

So FAs have to weigh the fact that a contract from the Browns might have a shitload more money in it than they could get elsewhere vs. playing for ... well, the Browns.
