I disagree. Opposing team can tie on a standard 7-point TD.

The upside of potentially getting the 2 point conversion outweighs the downside. At best, they go up 2 scores. At worst, the Patriots can tie unless they make an even riskier attempt at 2 points.

the worst case scenario being a tie makes the case for going for it IMO. Potentially making it a 2 score game is worth the risk.
