this is a bit late, but whatever. basic introduction that my friend wrote for the somethingawful forums, copy pasting cause its better than what i could/would write, try to ignore the sa forum stuff (the basic game description paragraph is bolded if you want to skip the rest of the crap):
last year the winner went 16-1. the site has parts still under construction but the main chunks of functionality are there. theres random placeholder stuff here and there (some stats), and some minor bugs, but the picking teams functionality should be solid. probably posted this too late for a bunch of people to notice for week 1, but you could still pick for 16 more weeks at least then.
if you find funkiness or other things that seem like bugs, please post about them here. one last note, the account activation email and reminders seem to be put into the spam boxes for hotmail and gmail users (and probably other auto filtering systems). just look for something from eliminator.victoly.com.
so basically, pick a team each week, you cant pick a team more than once. 'betting' (picking) closes on the first kickoff of the week. an exception was made this week for the thursday game, betting will close sunday at 10 am pst.The 2005 NFL season is here!
Eliminator is back and this year things are bigger and better than ever. While 2.0 is not complete, it is functional enough to begin betting and poring over statistics.
If you are new to this game or weren't here last year (you should register), here's a quick bit of information:
Eliminator is a "pick'em" style survival game. You choose one team each week that you expect to win. If you are correct you move on; if you are wrong you are eliminated. Should no user survive all seventeen weeks then the user with the least number of incorrect wagers will be the victor. This means you SHOULD NOT STOP BETTING if you are wrong! You cannot bet on the same team twice so choose wisely.

This year there are quite a few new features (and quite a few things I didn't finish yet, whoops!), but since it's written with SA in mind let me know if you have any feature requests. The most important new feature this year is email reminders so you won't forget to bet (sent out 48 hours before the close of betting), so make sure you have a valid email (and check the box in your profile to get reminders).
For this week only betting will not close until the first game on Sunday. After that, betting will close when the first game of the week kicks off (even if that game is on a Thursday). This gives you almost 3 days to get your bets in for this week!
If you're a user from last year, welcome back! All accounts are intact so if you remember your login and password you can head to the Login page and start betting. Please take a minute to update your profile on the account page.
If you've forgotten your password don't worry. Just go to the login page and enter your email address and login and you will be sent an email to reset your password. PM me if you don't recall your login or used a fake email and can't remember it.
The site (as of last night at about 4am) is functional in IE6. The preferred browsers (with quite a bit nicer output) are Firefox, Opera, and Safari. KHTML will also work fine, should you be one of the three SAS people who actually use Linux on the desktop. You can visit the FAQ for further information.
If you have friends that want to join then point them towards the registration page!
Happy betting!
