In football news here are the important dates

  • Feb. 17-23: NFL Scouting Combine, Lucas Oil Stadium, Indianapolis
  • March 2: Deadline (before 4 p.m. ET) for clubs to designate franchise or transition players.
  • March 10: 2015 league year and free agency period begin at 4 p.m. ET. All clubs must be under the 2015 salary cap before 4 p.m. ET.
  • March 22-25: Annual meeting, Phoenix
  • April 24: Deadline for restricted free agents to sign offer sheets
  • April 29: Deadline for prior club to exercise right of first refusal to restricted free agents.
  • April 30-May 2: NFL draft, Chicago
  • May 8-11: First weekend after draft: Clubs may elect to hold their three-day post-draft rookie mini-camp from Friday through Sunday or Saturday through Monday.
  • May 15-18: Second weekend after draft: Clubs may elect to hold their three-day post-draft rookie mini-camp from Friday through Sunday or Saturday through Monday.
  • May 18-20: NFL spring league meeting, San Francisco
  • June 21-27: Rookie Symposium, Aurora, Ohio.

Wouldn't hurt. Load up the backfield with Charles and Davis more often, and add in DAT for some spice and even more speed. Fun times!

Who called him utter shit? Are you reading what you want to read again?

I thought Kolb was mediocre as well and we fleeced the Cards for a second round pick plus DRC for him. Foles has shown a lot more than he ever did.

At this point I'm prepared to accept Foles as the starter for another season but if they do trade him wouldn't be shocked if they are able to pull of a good deal.

Foles lost games against good teams. So did Sanchez. They both beat up on bad teams. They both had 1 impressive victory. Foles on the road against the Colts and Sanchez on the road against the Cowboys. Other than that they both completed a decent completion % but had way too many turnovers.

Offense wasn't explosive enough (still don't get why we let Desean go) under either QB and defense was shit.

And that's the main reason I want an upgrade over Foles. If this team is going to be built to run a no huddle spread hurry up offense, you want a QB who can do a lot more. Especially cause the D sucks so they are extremely 1 dimensional. You can win with a QB like Foles or Sanchez so long as other parts of your team are amazing. Can't rely on them to carry the team by scoring 30+ to cover for the horrible D.

It's either get the QB that can run this 10x better or go forward with Foles but then actually be active in FA to upgrade the D. And don't pick 3rd round projects as your first round pick. Sign 1-2 of the top CB/Safeties in FA and select the best defensive player available at pick 20.

Good news is 3/4s of our terrible starting secondary are FAs and there is no way they should be offered contracts. So we might be forced to sign decent upgrades. I'd like Maxwell, McCourty, and maybe one more CB like Kareem from Houston.

Really this off season is where Chip has to make his mark.

Gabbert is a brilliant football mind. Absolutely brilliant.

He also had glaring flaws that you could see from a mile away in college. He knows what to do on the field he just can't do it and never showed he could.

Winston has shown he can, over and over and over.

He's right though. Gabbert is very intelligent and never had a problem understanding offenses. It's like being book smart without being able to apply the knowledge in his case.

He is, people rave about his X's & O's ability.

He just has no ability to put that knowledge into practice. He has the worst accuracy of any NFL QB arguably ever, his pocket awareness is non-existant, his rocket arm is rendered useless because he can't hit the broad side of a barn and is terrified to throw down the field, and his mobility is gone after countless lower body injuries.

He knows exactly what to do, in theory, on every play, he just can't put it into practice because the second a defender catches his eyes he panics and flips the fuck out.

Countless scouts, coaches, personnel guys rave about his mental acuity, it's why Harbaugh thought he could fix him.
