Yeah they traded up for the Jags pick. Seems Chip has a huge hardon for Barkley dating back several years. He is going to compete for the starting job day 1 according to Chip. Seems the Eagles are going to run an offense very similar to what the Pats run.

Oh man this is fantastic news!

No trolling on my side but I actually do hope Barkley does well so Vick can gtfo. Any chance to troll my buddy is a positive.

LT situation in Miami continues to develop:

Ian Rapoport @RapSheet 1h

Dolphins hosted OT Eric Winston. They considered trading for Branden Albert. Had Bryant McKinnie in Mon. Tyson Clabo visiting MIA tonight

On the Lions front, it seems like they have their LT:

http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2013/04/30/lions-see-riley-reiff-as-their-starting-left-tackle/

But Lions coach Jim Schwartz says last year’s first-round draft pick, Riley Reiff, is ready to step in and protect Matthew Stafford’s blind side.

“We drafted him as a left tackle,” Schwartz said of Reiff, via the Detroit Free Press. “Probably with the way things ended up here, we’ll probably start him off there. We have a lot of confidence in him. I mean, that’s why we drafted him last year.”

PS3 BC on PS4 does suck. But luckily, the PS3 is just one useful machine. I'll use it as a media center device on a different TV. The only game I care about that'll I'll gladly still play is Valkyria Chronicles since Sega put the serie to death.

Eric Winston is gonna be serviceable. Brendan Albert, you just got bodied. Miami didn't want you and KC is gonna have all the love for the rookie. Enjoy the 10 mill this year though!

I'm glad Ireland isn't panicking (yet, anyway) by just throwing money at someone like Albert but at the same time the lack of action this situation has gotten is troublesome. Ireland better hope whatever stop-gap solution he comes up with works, otherwise he might be out of a job next year.

As a RT, right? So you're okay with Martin at LT? I am as long as the coaching staff is, but obviously some see that as overconfidence in Martin's ability.

Brandon Albert really thinks he's a top tier LT doesn't he? He's serviceable and that's about it. Eric Winston is equally as bad as him but at least he's cheaper. How fat is Bryant McKinnie nowadays?

Yeah Martin would be LT and Winston RT. Man honestly, this is how it's been for the last 15 years. The offensive line has not been ever settled. From the days of Fiedler, Lucas, Feely to now, our OL is a joke. I guess I gave up 5 years ago and accepted that this was the way it would be for the phins. Other teams have made it work such as the Pats, Colts, Packers so I guess it's our turn. But now we are getting skill positions filled that might allow us to get away with it.

Sando looked at the snaps for all of the NFCW, to look at turnover. STL turned over 46% of it's offense if going by snap count. Pretty unreal

I guess if nobody else wants to do it I can whip something up later.

I promise to increase quality and reduce spending in the process of crafting the next OT if I have to do it.

Sony's long term plan is to leverage the Gaikai business to provide backwards compatibility to their entire library across all of their platforms. That's not likely to happen quickly and I have a feeling we'll get more of a feel out process this generation with some key games seeing support but the long term prospect is exciting to me. Gaikai as a service was far ahead of OnLive and with the proper support and financial backing, it could be the key to answering any and all backwards compatibility questions for all Sony platforms moving forward. Including the Vita and any handhelds having access to PS3/PS2 games, etc.

Realistic outlook: Most people don't give a shit about those "hundreds of games" once a new generation truly gets going anyways. Regardless of platform.

That's a blanket generalization of course but there's a reason PS2 BC was dropped from the PS3 at a hardware level and why MS dropped Xbox BC midway into the 360's lifespan.

If the Durango has the 360 SOC onboard at launch to allow for BC, I'd bet money it will get dropped midway to reduce costs as the generation continues as well.

BC has always been a "boutique" feature to me. Sounds great from the get-go but has less meaning as time goes on.

That's why Sony's plan makes absolutely no f'ing sense. I know they're only leveraging BC as part of the Gaikai feature-set but by the time it even gets implemented (I'm guessing at least a year from launch before the service is even available) noone will give two shits. I hope MS makes that rumored auxiliary addon/Roku type box for 360 BC.

Who even uses BC? I pretty much never used it because I kept all of my old consoles and I would rather play the games on the OG hardware. The only time I liked it was on the PS2 when it could somewhat improve load times on PSX games, but time is precious and most of us would rather spend our time playing new games instead of replaying old games (with some exceptions). I mean I fucking love FE but I only ever replayed one of the GBA games. I play the fuck out of a game and then I am usually done with it.

Also I am sick of them trying to make consoles multimedia boxes. I would much rather they spend those efforts in decreasing the time it takes to get into the game from the time you turn the system on. I appreciate Netflix and shit on my PS3, but all of those functions can be found on cheap set top boxes and they are faster and better experience on those boxes. Instead of that focus on load times and startup times. If they want to give us BC then let us use our controllers from last gen on the new consoles instead of spending 60 (or probably 70 next gen) on a new controller.

PS4 and next Xbox will both have standby/resume functionality you won't have to worry about the time it takes to boot up a game. Thankfully. One thing the Vita does right.

Since we need news, the Sea Gals' 2013 roster has been announced!

A lot of diversity I'm seeing....

Just got back from a 25mi bike ride. Only a handful of rides so far this season, but my longest since breaking my ankle last June. While biking, I'm starting to not even notice it usually.
Mountain biking might change that if I decide to give that a whirl this year. We'll see.

bionic, has anyone written a good Steelers draft wrapup yet?

Generally I agree; it's nice to just box up the old system and switch but we didn't buy the new one to play old games anyway. It's just one of those features that seems handy at first, like "plays CDs!"

Sony's plan is pretty obvious though:
1. Release high spec hardware
2. Drop all of the problems Cell caused
3. Don't tank the remains of the company with another $599 console

That's why it's a long term plan that doesn't include just PS3 BC. Sony is thinking bigger. Think the gaming version of Netflix in so far as the Sony platform library is concerned. Completely devoid of necessary hardware. Whatever platform Sony releases, they can charge a simple monthly/yearly fee to give you complete access to the full PSX/PS2/PS3/PSP/Vita library. Strategically it makes absolutely more sense than focusing on providing some short term BC that people are going to forget about 1-2 years into a generation.

Anyone thinking having to buy two devices to play 360 games on the new Xbox is an advantage over using one device to play 360 games like we do now is strange to me!

If you have an LCD with AMP or Clear Motion or whatever, play a game and turn that on. See how horrid the response is to the controls. Now multiply that by two or three and you have streaming videogames.

I won't be using either BC system. The good 360 and PS3 games that aren't on PC will get ported over to next gen devices and we'll get to pay for them, just like Nintendo has done with it's online shop.

PS4 is physically incapable of playing PS3 games due to the shift away from Cell/RSX. It's not an intentional gouge.

I have an LG LED and I game with the clearmotion on and it isnt even noticable if it adds any lag. I tried to play a game on Onlive once and it was terrible. The 2 are not even remotely close. Hopefully Sony gets their service working much better.

I might have used BC on my original PS3 like once. I really don't care. I like the box and will likely replace it with the PS4 in the living room and bring the PS3 up to my office so I can still play late life cycle titles.

While I buy most games new, I don't buy them at release usually. But I've probably owned over 100 PS3 games to date. Trading in most when I'm done with them and only a very select few are kept. At one point I had over 25 games on my shelf, but usually and as is now, I have about 10 on disc.

I have no qualms about the lack of BC. I just hope Sony continues to only charge for value added service (PS+). Since I don't buy every game at release, I get a shit load of a value out of that program. It's the tits.

I used backwards compatibility a lot to play the Metal Gear Solid and God of War games. Once they released HD compilations, I didn't need to use BC anymore. As long as I'm given an easy way to play older games that I still want to play, I'm fine with no BC.

Maybe LG is better than Sony or Samsung, but those two have 100ms+ in terms of lag. It's playable b/c you learn to anticipate, but it's not what I would call responsive. And I agree absolutely about Onlive. Tried it once on that Free Trial and it was comically bad. Anyone talking that up as a realistic way to play their old God of War games is nuts

Gaikai is not onlive. Just because they're similar services doesn't mean they share the same latency. Sony actually reduced controller latency with the new PS4 controller by removing analog face buttons which I found interesting. No way to play old Metal Gear that way!

Gaikai is not onlive.
Agreed. Gaikai actually limits games to 30fps specifically to help with latency (whereas Onlive in its prime targeted 60fps). I've played games like the Witcher 2 on the service and "comically bad" isn't what I'd call the experience. Certainly room for improvement as the technology is young but you gotta love the technology frozen in time argument. It sucks today so it will suck forever! It never fails.

I bought a Samsung LED LCD once and that thing taught me all about the horrors of input lag. I messed with settings for ages trying to get it to a point where I could deal with it, but it was always noticeable and always annoying. After that I bought a Panasonic Plasma and never looked back.

So yeah, I expect input lag to be a deal-breaker to me when it comes to streaming games as well, unless they somehow surprise me and get it to the point where I can't notice it.
