I think Gary should have been gone. But I understand why McNair is keeping him. McNair knows squat about football. He is using logic thinking that if the offense is right, then just fix the defense and we will be just fine. It doesn't work that way, but Bob has such a bromance with Gary that he will listen to everything he says.

There is a way this will work though. The GM, Rick Smith, is going to have to have final say on personel going forward. Wade Phillips is going to have to have say in the defense and players picked. Gary is going to have to drop calling plays and leave that to the OC.

It just sucks that fans have no say so at all.

Rick Smith was the "defensive backfiled specialist" who pushed for Kareem Jackson, even if Kubiak had final say. There's no way it can work. Fans will be booing the second something goes wrong.

Players and assistant coaches know Kubiak is not long for the job. How will he hire any decent coaches? They don't want to move their families for a one year gig.

Vegas should have a prop bet on which week Wade Phillips takes over as interim HC.

I hope it's not true. Cable is not a good head coach on gameday, but there's finally been some stability in Oakland and I thought he had a great draft last year. They had 5 rookie starters that all played well and they brought in some FA talent that really made a difference. And, if nothing else, the guy really knows how to spot and build good offensive linemen.

If it's true that they're giving him the boot, it's probably because the players have all bought in and Al wants a stooge more than a head coach.

McDaniels brings nothing to the table unless they're letting Hue Jackson go. If that is the case, then McDaniels could probably do something with these shitty QBs, but our running game is probably fucked. If he goes to Oakland, Davis won't let him have anywhere near the amount of control he had in Denver, so he won't be able to do damage in that regard.

Honestly, I don't know why any coach would want to go to Oakland. No first round pick. Al Davis is your boss. Bunch of guys leaving for FA. I'd rather go be an OC somewhere for a year or two and bide my time 'till another position opens up.

All that said, I doubt it's true. The media has been wrong every fucking time one of these rumors comes up. They're batting 0 right now.
