Q: How Will the New Defensive Hot Route System Work? What type of hot routes will we have available and how will the controls work for it?

A: It doesn’t! Just kidding. The new system will work within the defensive shifting system. Instead of using the r-stick to adjust your group, you can select an individual player using a button. From that point, you can double-team a receiver, blitz, delay blitz, and spy the QB. I recommend watching the tutorial Defensive Training videos found in our Extras to learn how to use these features in the game. The extra treat is that the pinching/crowding functionality available to groups is also available. SO you can have one corner playing off a receiver and one in press.

Q: Will we be seeing a better style of running? They ran a bit like ducks last year, and while it appears to have been fixed you can't tell for sure.

A: They run more like chickens now... Kidding again. We’ve worked a LOT on the running animations. Frankly, each player in the NFL has a unique running style, so there is no such thing as a right or wrong running animation. But the running animations are greatly improved. Whether or not they suit your tastes is a personal question.

Q: I'd like to know if the 'GameCast Stat Replays' that you mentioned as your favorite thing in ESPN NFL 2K5 means you can go back to your GameCast screen in the pause menu during a game and watch replays of every play from the game. Or even replays of every play from every game for the week, or maybe even the season!

A: OH YEAH!!! One of my favorite new features. Yes, you will be able to go through your in-game Gamecast Stats (i.e. pause the game, go to GameCast Stats) to replay every play from your game. Unfortunately, once you leave the game, it’s gone. It’s a great start to a feature that I’m hoping we get a chance to expand on.

Q: Has anything been added to the Coaches Challenge Feature? (Will there be more closer calls such as feet dragging, ground forced fumbles, forced out of bounds, etc.?)

A: Hopefully, you understand that with the enormous amount of new features for this year’s game, we just didn’t have time to add some things, and one of them were improvements to Coach’s Challenge. It’s definitely on the list of things to improve for next year.

Oh great, we gotta deal with the ref spotting the ball 3-5 yards off almost every play again?

Q: How Has The LB And Safety Play Improved?

A: Yes

LOL wtf?

Madden interviews have said they didn't touch the replay system either.

Both were broken to hell, ESPN required that you used both every game(and sometimes you needed 3 and 4 per game). At least when you challenged a play, though, the result ended up correct. Madden's replay system just ignored NFL rules and reversed/upheld plays at random, not actually depending on what happened.

Q: Has the Ball Spotting been fixed this year? Last year it seemed a lot of the time the ball would be incorrectly spotted about 1-2 yards short on plays.

A: If ball spotting were perfect there wouldn’t be a need for a challenge system. It wasn’t broken. That’s artificial error built into the game.

LMAO!!

Too bad this happened like 15 times a game,VC guys sure have some funny explanations for their problems =\

Well, it was obviously intentional. It's just that the frequency shouldn't be as high.

It was pathetic, I've played games where the ball was spotted incorrectly more often than it was right. What pisses me off is that it was almost always on plays where the spot isn't important--meaning a play you can't actually challenge in the NFL. You can't challenge on a first down run to say you got 4 yards instead of 3, but that was where all the errors in ESPN2k4 came into play.

well, the thing is it DOES matter. i remember there would be times in our ESPN league last year where i'd run for 8 yards on 1st down, it'd give me 6, i'd get no gain on 2nd, and 3 yards on 3rd.... leaving me @ a 4th and 1 and no way am i going to go for it in the first quarter in my own end. 5 or 6 plays a game spotted incorrectly is fine with me, but 5 or 6 plays a drive is too much. oh well

Well it should be - only a 50hz/60hz issue could be the reason, even ESPN with all the problems in their gameplay have online play for PAL users (versus other PAL users). But the interview at MaddenWishlist said it wasn't and someone else posted that it wasn't here. I hope its not true :(

There is a good chance EA could restrict us to just playing Pal owners like Sega has been doing. But hopefully they relize that this is BS and overcome these issues.

At least let Pal owners be able to play people in either 50/60hz modes.

holy shit this guy is hitting the nail on the head! he says kidding again, but again he is right! they still ran with a stick up their ass. true that there is no right or wrong style of running in real life, but there is in videogames.

i just thought my fellow NFL 2k5 players (mainly from the gaf league) would get a kick out of this... :D

Haha, ESPN 2k5 is one of the worst football games I have ever played. It has AI that makes Tecmo Super Bowl seem like Halo 2 on Legendary.

For fuck's sake FMT, the sole reason I'm not whacking you for this insane rebump is because you're bloody hilarious. Consider this your Get-Out-Of-Jail-Free card. >:|
