NFSU2 DS commercial

That looks pretty damn good, actually. Guess we'll be getting a whole lotta new NDS commercials this month.

Burnout 3 is ;)

Unless you're talking about sales...

Burnout 3 is fantastic and second only to NFSU because of depth. I also still like Burnout 1 for some reason maybe because its the purest, none of this crashing stuff etc.

Looks nice. I can't see why anyone would buy this version if you have any other system available, but still, looks nice.

lol. They could enhance it by adding lots of customization.

Whats with all these "coming soon" commercials out of left field? MP isn't due out for several months as far as we know, and NFSU isn't due for a month and a half.

Hmm. downloading but damn, we haven't even seen that many screens. I can't wait to see how this looks. Better be faptastic.

Its a NINTENDO ad? ??! ?!?! Sure doesn't look like EA homebrew. Its got the whole Breath/Dust Blue DS logo. I guess they need to fight against PSP hype.

That's so odd, that Nintendo is the one doing the advertising for EA.

This is the weirdest download I've ever attempted. Sometimes it stops at 250kb, sometimes at 480, sometimes at 760. I've tried like eight times now :\

Fake game footage, the bottom screen isn't even moving! Nintendo is deceiving you!

Nintendo's counter attack against PSP launch!

took me less than a minute to download. Its 808kb or thereabouts.

Man, that was crazy. I had to use GetRight eventually to download it. And even GetRight had problems, it kept disconnecting from the server every 10 seconds or so. Then it would say "Server Busy, retrying in 60 seconds..." or I could just resume immediately.

Anyway, very impressive for the little-DS-that-could. I'm telling j00 all, it's going to surprise a lot of people by the end of its life. It's not as incapable as people assume.

bit hard to gauge visuals though at that resolution and especially when it was the game displayed on the DS screen within the QT file which futher reduced the size and quality.

Now if they'd port Beetle Adventure Racing :)

For that 1.5 seconds of game footage, it actually looked pretty good!

The biggest question needs to be: why does this game look SOOO much better than Ridge Racer DS?

Culex: Because Ridge Racer DS sucks ass, and NST sucks ass. There's your answer in a nutshell :)

Heh, well... the only thing I'll say is the commercial is a little deceptive since you don't actually use the touchscreen/stylus to move your vehicle ;P

You use the touch screen to select the nitro (and gears) i think. Sure about the former. Not sure about the latter. After RRds; they really shouldn't be implying that you control the car with the touchpad.

If this is indeed real-time actual DS footage, it even looks like there's some lighting on the cars as they move through the streets, too!

Yea, RRDS could have had touch screen steering if you could drag the wheel from any point, instead of touching anywhere on the wheel, and it TURNS to that point.

Yea, I know. But it'd be better if like a kid was standing on the sidelines of a street race and he had a can of nitro and was rubbing his finger up and down it. And then you see the car on the street respond in kind.

What... what is this? There are some people actually saying that a DS game looks good.. even pretty good? The times, they are a-changin'! :) I've been saying this for a while, as have a few select others.. :D

Don't worry, that'll all change when someone puts NSFUR next to NSFU2 DS. Then it'll be back to "ugly" and "hideos." :P

good eyes. went through those few seconds frame by frame and he's right: the timer doesn't change at all..

Eh... the low resolution and compression artifacts hide the pixel popping and blocky textures.

IGN: What aspect of the Nintendo DS version of Need for Speed Underground 2 are you most proud of?

Ferguson: There are plenty of things we are proud of in this title. If I had to pick one as a standout, it would be the frame rate. We set a goal of 60fps early in development, and despite the visual detail that has been packed into the title, and the complex physics simulation running under the hood, we've managed to achieve that benchmark. For us, it's the icing on the cake.
It's 60 fps, damn, that's nice.

The commercial's pretty neat, but Wario64's observation stands. I'm taking the gameplay footage with a grain of salt.

The other comercial that shows more gameplay does not look good at all. Beatle Racing on N64 looked miles better.

The short gameplay footage looks just like the screenshots released earlier. There's nothing fake looking about it, it's from DS, I don't see why it shouldn't be.

I'd actually give EA money if they ported Burnout3 to the PSP.
That game is almost a given. Unless EA really forces Criterion's hand against making it (and I don't see why they should, given their PSP push), it will get made. Criterion people were some of the most enthused about the PSP hardware.

According to Alex they've had a version of BO3 running on the PSP since last year, but they stopped it to finish the console versions. He said once they finished that their focus would move to the PSP.

OK, when did he say that? Before or after EA buyout? Before or after BO3 release? Is he talking about finishing the BO4 console versions?

It was early on, before the PSP was even shown publically.

Eurogamer: Burnout PSP is an interesting side issue...

Alex Ward: Can you imagine playing this in your hand, sitting on the train, nine players wi-fi. It'll just be brilliant. We absolutely want to... I know the early stuff at E3 was very clearly demonstration, throwaway demos, but I'm confident we can absolutely make the best handheld racing game ever. It can really look great.

Eurogamer: At what stage are you going to be showing that off?

Alex Ward: We haven't really started yet. We got a version running [on PSP], an early version of Burnout 3, and then we shelved work on it and concentrated on Burnout 3 because we had to see the machine.

Eurogamer: Well we're looking at probably Xbox 2 launching at the end of next year in the US, maybe...

Alex Ward: Yeah. Maybe we'll do something for that, I don't know. At the moment though, we're not. We're following the development and we know what's going on, but following Burnout 3 the next thing we'll get to work on really is PSP.
