A great sister article for the 24 Hours article I posted a few days ago where Gretzky said that the price to pay for hockey is a crisis.
Maybe some of this isn't exactly new information, or is common knowledge, but it puts down what many people have been complaining about for years. It also does give a bit of a glimpse into why hockey more so then other sports in Canada is so homogeneously white, and probably won't get as many second and third generation immigrant families playing the game as say, basketball or soccer.
Very interesting. Thanks. I know my cousin forks out a lot for his 14 year old to keep playing at a decently high level. Not quite as much as mentioned in the article but not far. Makes me wonder how many great players miss out indeed, or do turn to other sports instead.
