Nicholas Kole, who worked on the design of "Crash Bandicoot 4", confirms from his account that "Crash Bandicoot 5" was canceled.

After 4, I'm not really surprised. A game that could have been great ruined by a sadistic difficulty that I have no idea who it was made for. Certainly not Crash fans.
This is one of those mad cause bad moments I keep reading about from the IGN reviewers.

Hmm.. doesn't this also suggest that this was the game Toys for Bob was making supported by Xbox? He does say it was canceled today specifically.

No. He doesn’t work for Toys for Bob. He left in 2021.

He’s talking about a game he’s worked on for his current studio - code named Project Dragon - that got canceled.

Ah, you are correct. I mistook it as him talking about Crash 5 and it being named "Project Dragon" (which doesn't really make sense but these placeholder names sometimes are a bit wierd)

Where is that suggested?

He left Toys for Bob in 2021, along with a number of other Crash/Spyro veterans that were laid off. Activision announced at the same time that TfB would mainly switch to being a support studio for COD Warzone.

Toys For Bob then published Crash Team Rumble in 2023.

There’s literally no chance they were working on a Crash 5 anytime after 2021.

Crash 4 is awasome if you are not some compulsive weirdo who cant play games if you cant get the platinum.. the platinum ? Yes I agree is sadistic.. the core game and main gems ? Is very good and perfectle doable .. my 10 year son can do it and he is not some prodigy child

You asked where, I told you where. Not sure what you want from me.

As you’re aware, it wasn’t merely a suggestion. It’s accurate.
I asked because that came from OP themselves, and nothing from the tweet was suggesting it.
You will only go in circles, so I suggest not replying.

Meh, not a big deal.

Crash and Spyro have run their course, that's why the IP got flogged off. You can't really modernize them.

There is some PS2 slop for both Crash and Spyro they could remaster apart of another trilogy for each, but new entries? Nah.

If MS really wanted a modern platformer, they should do Blinx who you can actually work with as a character and with its gameplay. Maybe Banjo.

He's talking about his new project which was some dragon game (not spyro or Toys for bob). Crash was also cancelled while he was at T4B but not today.

Yeah, you don't need platinum relics. Just all gold relics for the platinum trophy. It's basically just get all gems and gold relics and you're done.
I probably wasted a lot of time in the platinum relics then. I can get caught up in that stuff even if it's not a requirement.

Spent a week getting a top 1,000 time on astros mountain run 😂

A family friendly game should not be crazy difficult. They should have taken a cue from the first three Crash games.

Good Lord. This place sometimes 🤦‍♂️

Maybe just read the OP instead of asking people to repeat something you already had access to yourself

I did, I just have no idea as to why anyone would take OP's words for granted without any further research.
He even blames MS before saying that, it's really inconsistent.

"Family friendly" - what are you on about. Crash 1 is a good challenge start to finish, and the in-game 100% is challenging. Same with a lot of 2. That WAS the cue Crash 4 took and why people liked it. Did you play them?

Nobody counts PS+ numbers as sales.
No? When you claim them, they are "purchased". They even used to be put in your cart. Where did the 4.5 million other sales originate? The source of the 5 million is just a line in a LinkedIn post, so who even knows if that is accurate.

I have the receipt from when I claimed the game. The email is titled "thank you for your purchase". The game was sold to me with a 100% discount.

That said, there were 40 million subscribers at the time, so five million copies claimed seems low. I wonder how many subscribers actually claim the monthly games?

Not this shit again.
Yes, when you claim anything from PS+, the email says ‘purchased’.

No. No publisher or dev considers a PS+ download a sale. It has never been added to game sales. There’s never been a single developer that has claimed PS+ numbers as sales.

The game was not sold to you at a 100% discount because that would mean Sony would have to be paying the dev for the full price of the game. The vast majority of Plus and GP deals don’t involve the platform holders counting each download as a full sale.

Good riddance to it and Toys for Bob.

Just deleted the game after spending hours and hours on it tediously getting through each boss and level.

Absolutely no enjoyment playing it. Just my stubbornness to complete it kept me going.

Credit to everyone who got through the last checkpoint of the last level.

Even Soulsborne fans would tear their hair out playing this game.

Not sure who the game was made for. Definitely not Crash fans.

It was unnecessarily punishing at times but still enjoyed. I still prefer the N'Sane Trilogy though.

I really enjoyed the game. Can't really get my head around the hate. Anyway, I would have preferred a new Spyro instead of Crash 5.

Crash was really cool meld of olds hook 2d gameplay in 3d. But really after the awesome 2 there was nothing left to do.

meh, Crash games were never good, mediocre at best. they certainly filled a space in the PS1 library but after the the first 2 there was no need for them.

The fact that they remade the first 3 with the punishing mechanics is a hilarious way to alienate newcomers and even if they sold decently with 4, I doubt a new game would sell as good.
