Loved this show. It was like a cartoon version of Seinfeld. See Kramer, Jerry, and George above.

What's with Nickelodeon digging up their old cartoons all of sudden?

I'm half-expecting a Rocket Power TV Movie about Otto's anti-shoobie nationalist group.

Between making a 1000 episodes for Spongebob and the Fairly Odd Parents and reviving their old classic cartoons, just how much have Nickelodeon's new cartoons sucked?

One of my favorite quotes of the series is actually pretty depressing, and stuck with me since it was so outta place in the show:

Rocko's Modern Life - Cruisin said:
Rocko: Mean old bugger, I hope I never get old and crotchety.

Old Man: You got a lot to learn there, young fella.

Rocko: Yeah like what? How to be rude and nasty without even trying.

OldMan: Well you are going to old one day junior, if you're lucky. And then you too are going to feel the heartbreak of a prune diet, or lost memories, or the pain and loneliness of losing a loved one. Maybe then you'll understand why old timers aren't always the bright ray of sunshine you find yourself to be eh boy?

Which episode?

Closet Clown, S4E7

Loud House, Harvey Beaks, and TMNT 12 are really really good. Everything else.. not so much.

Glad to see they recognize Rocko as the best Nicktoon (Hey Arnold's been cold on the table for over a decade; this is their first total nostalgia grab for a Nicktoon). That said, it was episodic; there's no narrative to have. It'd also probably be targeted towards Nick's modern audience like LotHT, so the bite will be gone, too.

Wonder if Invader Zim has a chance of getting a movie too.

It has a comic; even if Zim is 00-level New Tens, it's still not a 90's show. That's all it's getting for now.

It's going to look like shit.

That they go out of their way to specify it's going to be animated OUT of Nick's Studios actually gives me hope they'll give it the treatment needed to really shine, a lá John Dilworth with Courage the Cowardly Dog. I could be reading it wrong though.

Blinded by the luminous glory that is David Bowie's physical manifestation.
Ready for the TV-MA version!

Yeah, the only way I could see this working is Nick airing it in the "prime-time" slot of like 10PM for the adults that grew up on it so they don't complain about their kids seeing something like that.

They could air it on The Splat, wouldn't have as much reach as Nickelodeon but it would target it's audience more, with all the nostalgic factor the block carries.

I was never a big fan of Rocko, but it's nice to see Nickelodeon do stuff like this. We've got the Hey Arnold Jungle Movie, Legends of the Hidden Temple movie, this movie, The Splat, talks of Klasky Csupo coming back to reboot Rugrats. They realized that the kids who grew up with this stuff are adults now and are starting to have kids, Nick's been on a downwards spiral for a while now, hopefully this is enough to float them.

ah, this used to be one of my favorite shows as a kid. nickelodeon has had its fair share of raunchy fucking shows, ren & stimpy being the prime example which i hated.

rocko's modern life danced on the line of raunchiness a lot, but i enjoyed it

Please don't suck.
Please allow all the dirty jokes they can.

Wouldn't be Rocko's Modern Life without it, which worries me greatly about the movie. Not sure if it'll have all the adult humor the original show did or if they'll make this just for adult fans.

i just hope that the guy who did heffer's voice can do it again, he tried doing it at a con a few years back and it sounded really really off (but then again i understand that its been almost 15 + years since doing it... and doing spongebob can really hurt the voice)
