This is the kind of thing that makes me feel the most proud. The money I've sent to this village in India for the last couple years [via my Pastor Lydia Sloley], has gotten them a Computer Center, a Tailoring Institute, a Reading Program and 2 WATER WELLS. We complain about the most ridiculous little things when some ppl don't even have clean water. Blessings to India. Our work is far from done. I'll tell you guys more about my charity work in the near future in case you'd like to be a part of it. Love🙏🏽

Damn between this and the tuition thing she's actually pretty amazing? I don't know why but I kind of imagined her being an asshole. Doesn't really seem like that all though.

Damn good of her. She was also paying off the student loans and tuition for some of her fans, which was nice.

Good on her, especially since you know she did this for other reason than publicity if its just now coming out.

I don't know why people automatically project being selfish assholes onto pop stars who haven't given anyone any reason to believe they're selfish assholes

It's dope to hear about charity like this though

It's kinda funny that the disses and stuff are all made as public as possible but the good deeds are done as covertly. Usually it's the opposite for that good publicity.

Good on you, Minaj.

This reminds me of that celebrity who actually heads an organization dedicated to stopping child sex slavery rings. I forgot who it was, but I thought that was pretty cool.

She also paid strangers' tuition fees too recently, no?
EDIT: she did.
Just looked this up because I didn't know about it. Here's a link for anyone else joining the thread.

Had no idea she was doing this for people. She's awesome.

People quietly send funds to third world nations all of the time through offering at church. I suppose no one has a large enough voice to mention it and instantly bring awareness to an issue like her though.

That's awesome. Didn't Rihanna also donate to a place? These types of actions really make me respect them more than just being entertainers.

It's bizarre to me that this doesn't happen more.

It feels like there should be a lot more "You know what, I don't need another necklace/car/house" charity.

Im sure a lot of celebrities do donate without making an announcement. Or they do and then leak it to the press so they look doubly pious. But Im sure nobody would ever do that.

I hope more celebrities do this. Half a million dollars to a movie star is a new car, but it could mean a whole new functioning village to some people in other countries.

Haiti post hurricane. Though their awesome charity work gets shelved when the latest gossip rolls around.

A lot of people, celebrities or otherwise, give generously to their churches. It's a tax write off. I think people would be surprised, that even middle class families will give 10% of their gross salaries to their huge churches. How do you think these huge megachurches get built all over the country?

Bill Gates has his haters but compared to the others you listed Gates' haters are tame.

You also forgot to add Akon.

I am old, i remember a time when Bill Gates was the most hated man on the internet. Loading up my netscape navigator to read folks blasting him on Slashdot, those were the days
