I find it underwhelming too but they did the same thing last year with Doom 1 + Doom 2 which was also previously available on all of the platformsIm confused. A remastered Doom 64 is already out and on modern day consoles. What all could they do with it?
just saying they might want a ps5 sku for doom 64 is it dumb yes.So?
That doesn't answer my question.
Doom 64 already had a remaster. The game runs natively fine as is, has been released on modern day consoles.
I can't believe this needs to be explained.
Quake 3 Arena was very meh to me
Unreal at the time wiped it's face into the ground.
If you're playing on PC this is essentially a proper remaster, with plenty of neat features on top of itLet it be RTCW please!!
You don't like Quake 3 Arena?Quake 3 Arena was very meh to me

I would like some single player Quake 4 action though
This is what should be going on!Deus Ex please.
And you know what, Nightdive cleaning up Invisible War would be fucking amazing. They have experience modernizing gameplay. Improve the visuals, fix the bugs, remove the universal ammo system, add more recoil, get rid of the level segmenting and make them a bit bigger, maybe add in a few more vents and shit to offer more player choice for stealth, and already the game would be many times better than what we got.
Weak port but amazing game. Probably better then Duke3d if they fix the difficulty.Played Blood Fresh Supply a bit last night but that's one of ND's weakest ports imo.

Can confirm. I played through this around October last year and it was fucking fabulous. I'd still like to see an official remaster with the MP though. If you're playing on PC this is essentially a proper remaster, with plenty of neat features on top of it
What did you not like about it?
I put in about 20 hours and rinsed it. Loved everything about it really. Never played the original mind you...
Thanks Will give it a shotIf you're playing on PC this is essentially a proper remaster, with plenty of neat features on top of it
But seriously, who the fuck is even interested in Quake 4? Nobody liked that game, it didn't set anything on fire, in fact it was promptly forgotten.
This game is shit
It doesnt even feel or look anything like Quake.

It just must be personal preference or something. I played the original quite a bit and I thought the remaster was very solid, personally. What did you not like about it?

That's the build engine jank. It never fully gets replicated right.Dunno, it feels off for some reason. Could be me tho.
Are you one of those people that hate Doom 3 for not "feeling or looking anything like" Doom despite the fact that it's one of the best atmospheric fps around?
Quake 4 is the closest to Doom 3 in feel and atmosphere. It deserves its time in the spotlight.
Quake 4 was indeed shit. He's right. Quake 1 and 2 were memorable. Quake 3 should have been given a different name. Quake 4 was garbage. Are you one of those people that hate Doom 3 for not "feeling or looking anything like" Doom despite the fact that it's one of the best atmospheric fps around?

What ya mean? How?Doom The Dark Ages is already a Quake 3 remaster
Doom 64 already had an excellent port back in 2020. Why would there be another one?It might be just DOOM 64 considering it was rated by ESRB a few months back for PS5 and Xbox Series and is receiving consistent updates on SteamDB's history in recent months
They literally did the same disappointing thing last year with Doom 1 + 2 which also was available on all platforms and got re-released again. So it's not really a precedent. Also, I didn't applied to ESRB to have the game being rated again and I'm not the one who is responsible for constantly updating the game on Steam DB so not sure why you all are asking me why. All I did was posting some evidence implying this might be a case. Save this question for August if this will end up trueDoom 64 already had an excellent port back in 2020. I'm not waiting until August bruh, give me answers now on why another port of Doom 64 makes sense. They literally did the same disappointing thing last year with Doom 1 + 2 which also was available on all platforms and got re-released again. Bruh, why is my job is explaining something that was reported? I can't really see a reason for that past re-release of Doom 1 and 2 from last year and you want me to explain yet another potential baffling decision they might be making? LmaoI'm not waiting until August bruh, give me answers now on why another port of Doom 64 makes sense.
The level design/architecture/textures/etc are very similar. The whole mix of the medieval/gothic setting contrasted with futuristic technology, and with occasional cthulhu/dark fantasy stuff thrown in as well. What ya mean? How?

But again, if you are so lazy that you can't even bother to look stuff up that were linked. If you will look at the SteamDB I linked earlier, Nightdive added a private branch about 5 months ago, implying there is an additional password-protected version of Doom 64. Branches has tons of possible uses. They can be used for testing, having a completely new version of the game, some dev stuff, etc. But either way, it's a bit odd that something like this was added 5 months ago. If they wouldn't do anything with it, this wouldn't really have a reason to exist

Respectfully disagree but I do enjoy both.Quake 3 Arena was very meh to me

Doom TDA seems like a Hexen/Heretic game than a Quake or Doom. The level design/architecture/textures/etc are very similar. The whole mix of the medieval/gothic setting contrasted with futuristic technology, and with occasional cthulhu/dark fantasy stuff thrown in as well.
Playing Doom The Dark Ages feels like if Quake 3 was given a proper single player campaign.
Quake 1 is also similar in parts, but especially Quake 3.
