Night Dive Studio's Next Project Announcement @ QuakeCon '25 - Possible Quake 3/4 Remaster ?!

But seriously, who the fuck is even interested in Quake 4? Nobody liked that game, it didn't set anything on fire, in fact it was promptly forgotten.

This game is shit

It doesnt even feel or look anything like Quake.

The problem if it is Quake 3 is that it is mainly multiplayer focused, it would be cool if they could do a Quake 3+4 Collection a la THPS.

I hope it's Quake 4 remaster or a Quake 5 that's a sequel to Quake 4.

Doom 3 is my favorite Doom game and Quake 4 felt like it took place in the same universe just elsewhere but instead of demons, it's the aliens this time. Quake 4 and Doom 3 are the two best Quake and Doom games.

Quake 3 Arena was very meh to me

Unreal at the time wiped it's face into the ground.

I would like some single player Quake 4 action though
You don't like Quake 3 Arena?

Deus Ex please.

And you know what, Nightdive cleaning up Invisible War would be fucking amazing. They have experience modernizing gameplay. Improve the visuals, fix the bugs, remove the universal ammo system, add more recoil, get rid of the level segmenting and make them a bit bigger, maybe add in a few more vents and shit to offer more player choice for stealth, and already the game would be many times better than what we got.
This is what should be going on!

Played Blood Fresh Supply a bit last night but that's one of ND's weakest ports imo.
What did you not like about it?

I put in about 20 hours and rinsed it. Loved everything about it really. Never played the original mind you...

Are you one of those people that hate Doom 3 for not "feeling or looking anything like" Doom despite the fact that it's one of the best atmospheric fps around?

Quake 4 is the closest to Doom 3 in feel and atmosphere. It deserves its time in the spotlight.

I wouldn't go that far at all, but hey, to each their own.

At the time I did think the game felt a little too much like DOOM 3, almost like a mod of sorts.

But I still enjoyed the campaign, the multiplayer was a different story as I could never find a match at the time. I thought it was fine. Quake 2 meant a LOT to me for a variety of reasons, still does. So, I thought it was cool to get a direct sequel to that after something like Quake 3. Even if it didn't look like the same time period or whatever because of the engine and art.

The Stroggification scene is still one of the best things about the game IMO.

It just must be personal preference or something. I played the original quite a bit and I thought the remaster was very solid, personally.

I'd like a Quake 3 remaster (yeah, I know, Quake Live exists but I rather have the ability to host my own servers). Otherwise: Hexen/Heretic remasters/remakes would be neat.

Quake 4 was mid as fuck and no remaster is going to save that.

Nah I love Doom 3, which is why Quake 4 feeling or looking like Doom 3 is weird.

Love those devs. I really want:

Alien Resurrection
Redneck Rampage
Operation Body Count
Blake Stone
Heretic
Hexen
Witchaven

Not a big Quake fan.

Quake 3 / 4 are still playable. I would like to see a remaster of

Quake 4 was indeed shit. He's right. Quake 1 and 2 were memorable. Quake 3 should have been given a different name. Quake 4 was garbage.

Doom 64 already had an excellent port back in 2020. Why would there be another one?
They literally did the same disappointing thing last year with Doom 1 + 2 which also was available on all platforms and got re-released again. So it's not really a precedent. Also, I didn't applied to ESRB to have the game being rated again and I'm not the one who is responsible for constantly updating the game on Steam DB so not sure why you all are asking me why. All I did was posting some evidence implying this might be a case. Save this question for August if this will end up true

I'm not waiting until August bruh, give me answers now on why another port of Doom 64 makes sense.

Bruh, why is my job is explaining something that was reported? I can't really see a reason for that past re-release of Doom 1 and 2 from last year and you want me to explain yet another potential baffling decision they might be making? Lmao

But again, if you are so lazy that you can't even bother to look stuff up that were linked. If you will look at the SteamDB I linked earlier, Nightdive added a private branch about 5 months ago, implying there is an additional password-protected version of Doom 64. Branches has tons of possible uses. They can be used for testing, having a completely new version of the game, some dev stuff, etc. But either way, it's a bit odd that something like this was added 5 months ago. If they wouldn't do anything with it, this wouldn't really have a reason to exist

What ya mean? How?
The level design/architecture/textures/etc are very similar. The whole mix of the medieval/gothic setting contrasted with futuristic technology, and with occasional cthulhu/dark fantasy stuff thrown in as well.

Playing Doom The Dark Ages feels like if Quake 3 was given a proper single player campaign.

Quake 1 is also similar in parts, but especially Quake 3.

Quake IV was dogshit and was received poorly, forcing them to cancel near finished DLC. Fuck that game. I'd much rather have RTCW next.

Amen.

Last good Quake was Quake 3. Which I still play.

They've remastered several games people don't give a shit about.

Doom TDA seems like a Hexen/Heretic game than a Quake or Doom.

Invisible War would have to be a near complete do-over. Personally, I don't think that game had anything that would make it worth salvaging/remaking.

But I would be fully and completely on-board for the original Deus Ex.
