"9.4"

"Plus, it reminded us that ninjas don't always have to slip in under the cover of shadows and pretend they're spies. Sometimes, ninjas get to leap out of a zeppelin with their sword drawn, do a flip off of the wall for show, and then chop the heads off several poor slobs before continuing on to more general ass kicking."

That sums up the game perfectly, I cannot wait to play it again.

Rating Description
out of 10
9.5 Presentation
All of the added content makes this one of the most complete games available. You simply can't argue when a re-release adds so much.
10 Graphics
Oh so pretty. This is one of the few games that can make you momentarily forget about the next generation of consoles.
8.0 Sound
The same as Ninja Gaiden. We're not complaining.
9.5 Gameplay
The camera is still frustrating, but everything else is done so masterfully that it can be overlooked.
10 Lasting Appeal
There's so much to do, this game will last you straight through the Xbox 360 launch.
9.4 OVERALL

I JUST started playing Ninja Gaiden on Saturday.

Does this give me anything that the downloads don't?
Is there a reason I should scrap the game I'm playing and get this and start over?

What's with this trend of rereleasing games (Ninja Gaiden: Black, Fable: Lost Chapters, Devil May Cry 3, MGS3: Subsistence) a year later and adding new content? I don't like this. They do this crap with DVD movies too. This practice doesn't make me want to buy games when they are first released.

YES.

I don't think that helped the guy out much.

Ninja Gaiden Black is not a sequel to Ninja Gaiden by any means. Rather, it is a repackaging of the original with material from the two downloadable Xbox Live Hurricane Pack expansions, an expanded story, more costumes, a port of the arcade version of Ninja Gaiden, extra levels of difficulty, and a whole new mode of play focused on scripted missions. If that sounds like a lot, it's because it is. Those who think this is just a way to cash in on the franchise need to think again. There's enough new content here to warrant another look at the game, even if you've already played through it several times and downloaded both Hurricane Packs. Even better, everything that has been added is a blast to play.

There ya go.

Yeah, seriously. Thankfully I never got to own the original awesome game, so I'll be picking this up soon.

Thats you. This practice is fine by me. Maybe these steps will help you.

A. Simply read a review of the product being re-released, DVD or game.

B. See if any of the new features intrest you.

C. If they do intrest you, go out and purchase.

D. If they don't intrest you, why comment on it and call what MANY others enjoy crap?

Some re-releases are just a scam yes. The new Ghostbusters DVD set offered nothing new besides a couple of random episodes of the "Real Ghostbusters" cartoon series. While many other DVD re-releases offer a new transfer of the film, making it look ultra sexy on higher definition televisions. Examples: The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly, Clerks, and soon to be re-released Batman films where as the older DVDs looked like complete garbage.

As far as games go, it gives fans of the games another reason to play though them. Not all games I like I give a second go or would purchase a re-release, but if I have the time why the hell not?

Actually I wasn't trying to help. Nothing more annoying than internet lazyness. It's not like someone hoarded all the info somewhere and locked it away.

Head to google/"random game site A"
*click search*... *type description of needed info*.. *hit enter*
Results?! omgwtf?! :p

It's better than paying for that content separately as DLC, IMO. :p At least it's all there on a single disc, not tied to a HD or a content server somewhere, and I can pop it into any system and enjoy it in its entirety. If that bothers you, then don't buy the games when they're first released--wait for the rerelease, or trade in your old copy for credit towards the updated version (unless you're a collector and that's not an option).

Looking forward to playing this (and Fable: Lost Chapters - thanks for reminding me.) :)

Chill out man. That's kinda what forums are for. I had read that it included the Hurricane packs and such.
But I asked an opinion if this re-release merited enough to STOP playing the game I'm playing and restart. Noting that Ninja Gaiden is a bitch sometimes and I've done an amazing job with essence so far. As well the Hurricane packs are said to offer more challenge and to be honest I don't know if I can handle more challenge from this game just yet. I would love to have a better camera at times though. But other than that I am extremely happy with the game. I don't know why it has taken me this long to get into the game (I bought it on release day). If more games looked like this we wouldn't need a next gen yet.
The question was more, is this game worth forgoeing the 8 hours of progress I've made with an absolute ton of essence and start over with only the promise of the new camera? But I see now that there is quite a bit more offered.

Thank you Zeo for you help. I think I might be able to survive without the expanded story and such right now. I guess I wont even know what the expanded content is until I finish the first version of the game.

(edited for length)
It wasn't directed at you personally or anything, it's just a pet peeve of mine. Besides, I said "YES". :p

I'd prefer that it be a scam actually. I don't want people who wait a year to buy the game to end up getting better content than what I paid for.

Do you like it when you buy a DVD movie and then a year later a better quality version of the DVD comes out with more content? That doesn't piss you off?

The fact that we're now talking about this trend continuing with $60 games makes things a lot worse. If I run out and buy a $60 game upon release and support a company when they want most people to support them, it doesn't make me happy that a year later there will be a better version of the game out. This practice doesn't encourage me to continue buying games when they are first released.

If this trend continues next generation they better at least offer the people who have purchased the game at launch the option to download (paid or free) the new content. I have no problem with what Bungie did with the Halo Map Pack for example.

I've never traded in a game before in my life, which means I still own every single game I've ever purchased. It does kind of feel like you are being forced to do this since there really isn't anyway of you knowing which games are going to end up being rereleased a year later with new content. At least with DVD movies if there are no extras on the DVD and it's out soon after the movie leaves theaters you can tell that a rerelease is probably coming.
