I am going to get the revolution with all those backwards compatible games on the NES and SNES, but I know for a fact that I will get screwed when it comes to power of the console. Now I am going batshit insane trying to figure out exactly how screwed we really are. Does anyone have any idea when they are going to release the specs or atleast the price(range?)?

I hate Nintendo. :(

Uh huh. Yep. I believe you. :lol

And no, Nintendo hasn't said shit. With Nintendo's track record of doing something right and finding a way to botch it (the whole wolf angle in Twilight Princess, for example), I wouldn't be surprised if the Revolution is underpowered. Lord knows they barely lifted a finger to give the DS any power, even though they knew the PSP was on its way (and no matter what they say about a "third pillar," the comparisons continue to be drawn).

Wait, I'm confused. Since when does the power of the console determine whether or not games are fun?
Since "blast processing" and "now you're playing with power.... Super Power!".

It will also run N64 and GC games(not emulated). So we know it will be similar to the GC when ti comes to design. But what about running N64 games properly? How much power do you need to run those games?

It's the power to price ratio I am worried about. I have a feeling it will be $200-250 at launch. :/

$250 is a reasonable launch price. Hell, the PlayStation 2 was $299 and people paid that much.

Uh ya...

worry about this when official specs come out or we get some game screens/movies. Nintendo certainly didn't slack off when it came to power this gen (see: RE4) so I don't see why you would think they will next gen.

You think being a wolf botches TP?

So you're thinking it takes a more powerful system to run N64 games than GC games? :lol

And if you're thinking it'd launch at a sub 200 price point, prepare to be disappointed.

If Nintendo's smart they'll release their old titles souped up for a nominal fee. Some N64 games have terrible framerates, they should be fixed.

The GC was released 18 months later than the PS2 and it was only as powerful as the PS2. By that logic, it is very likely that we will have a console that is weaker than the Xbox 360 in every repect as they are using the same design but with a few modifications so that it could run GC games.

Do you know anything about emulation? It takes much more power to emulate than it does with original hardware.

GameCube was $100 cheaper than PS2 when launched, the logic is flawed.

So you think adding a new gameplay element is botching the game? I don't know how you can come up with such a bold statement because I am %99.9 sure you have not played the wolf portions of the game.

I think the console will be very powerful, atleast matching the XB360 or slightly exceeding. YES, even with its small form factor, because it is not a P.C, its a console. PowerMac G5 is larger than the XBox360(3 cores at 3.2GHz each) and it has dual G5 processors running 2.7GHz.

Makes you wonder how is it possible. May explain why engineers make so much damn money.

But I digress

I remember Nintendo poking fun at Sega back in the SNES/Genesis days.

"OMG LOOK WHAT WE CAN DO DONKEY KONG COUNTRY!"

And the Revolution will be around $100 cheaper than the PS3 & 360, as they said they are going for an "affordable price point". Does anyone who understand Nintendo speak know what the hell that means?

Wait, what? You're going to have a hard time convincing me that the PS2's real-world performance in games is comparable with the GC's at all.

So you know how they are implementing these modifications? How about implementing the same instruction sets that are present on the Gekko, into a custom multi core G5 Processor.

I think its just driving you crazy not knowing whats in the Revolution, and your sick of reading about the Xbox360 and PS3.

Stop talking about stuff you know nothing about please.

Dude I'm not gonna bother to get into it. These same posts have been done to death (multiple times per day even). So I'm just having some fun with it... :p

No one knows any specifics other than, it's officially "2 to 3 times more powerful" than the GC. So any answer given is simply speculation.

Plus your Ps2/GC power comparison is wrong (save for a handfull of exceptions).

The GC is more powerufl than the PS2. Stop being a dumb ass.

I thought the "2 to 3 times" this was officially rebutted.

And even that one was later confirmed to be false :)

Yup, no harddrive, Blue ray, 15 connections on the back of the console.

The use of a larger version of the proprietary disc format(12cm) used for the GC, a format which they own. They probaly will own the drive itself.

Nintendo has engineers, bakes your noodle does it.
