Nintendo Downloads - December 2012

That makes sense, but it is still odd that they are letting these first few important weeks go by dry.

I would have at least expected a couple WiiU gamepad compatible VC releases or something by now. How hard is it to port over VC roms to work on the WiiU.

An app called Uplay is up in the US Wii U Shop. It's like some Ubisoft achievement system that can be used for Zombi U, Assassin's Creed, etc.

Yeah, the silence is deafening. Why isn't at least Super Mario Bros. out? They said they were testing the gamepad comfort with that title, so it's pretty obvious that they've done a version for U VC. The hope is that the delay is because they're coming out with some kickass way to let Wii owners of the game download the updates for free and that is taking time behind the scenes to sort out. But really they're probably hoping to starve us so hard that we'll be glad to pay $5 for the same game (with pad play!) we downloaded in 2006 :-)

I can't wait for Denpa Men. It's a real shame the OT got moved to Community before it was released in EU :( So from what I understand, we'll be able to find more variety in our Denpa Men if we connect to different Wi-Fi connections. Do we have to actually connect (password and all) or does the game just recognize we're somewhere else?

I bet Nintendo wanted to give those 5 "indie" games some room to breathe on the eShop before they unloaded anything related to virtual console. There's also the remote chance that they're planning some sort of upgrade path for those who purchased games for the virtual console on Wii that isn't finalized yet.

Classy.

Hey Guys,

We will unfortunately not be adding the Wii U version as a reward or ADD-ON as we just do not have enough time left at this point.

Each of your pledge's are directly what helped make it a reality in the first place, so thanks for your support!

The Wii U version of Pier Solar HD will be available for purchase once it is officially released late next year, so it won't make any difference if you pledged now or purchased it then - that's when it will be released regardless.

Thank you for your understanding and support everyone - we can't express this enough!

Xbox has XBLIG, if nothing else.

And Nintendo has been seen as much more indie-friendly with the Wii U.

That doesn't change the fact that it's not a smart idea to promise people something you may not be able to deliver. What happens if Microsoft/Nintendo/etc knocks them back?

Well, they wouldn't need approval from Microsoft for XBLIG.

Plus, who says they don't have everything in order?

This just doesn't seem likely. They have a business address, so there's little else to prohibit them from not getting developer status.

I just finished Super Mario Land 2. I didn't really like it, it was great when it came out considering what else was happening on the hardware, but time has probably hurt it more than any other mainline Mario game. It's a shame, since it has such unusual areas and enemies, which seems ultra refreshing in the era of New Super Mario Bros.

Anyway, I could use some suggestions for a next Game Boy game to grab!

I was leaning towards Game & Watch Gallery and/or BurgerTime Deluxe, but feel free to throw something else at me.

Microsoft has all but stopped letting indies publish on XBLA, and Nintendo won't necessarily approve you just because you have a business address, or even if you meet/exceed all the criteria.

If you haven't played Gargoyle's Quest, I'd definitely recommend it.
Hmm, that's a good idea. I might go with that plus one of the ones I was already eying for more score attack play.

By the way, where did you get the Epic Mickey sprite? Are there any of Oswald yet?!

Cropped it from a pre-release screenshot. A Gaffer was kind enough to touch it up and give it a Christmas theme. Not sure if there's anything for Oswald, though.

Guys.

Guys listen.

This is serious.

I have 2000 Wii points I need to use and I don't know what to get. I need to spend exactly that many Wii points.

What do I buy?

I feel compelled to say World of Goo, if you've never played that.

Fluidity (1200) and a SNES game of your choice (800)

Not suggesting World of Goo because, while great, it's the most expensive version of the game by far.

So Brain Age was delayed? Heard it was going to be downloadable on the eshop but I don't see it there and now Amazon appears to have pushed the date back to February earlier this week even though it was supposed to launch today. Looks like I'll stick with Smart As for Vita instead.

If you haven't played DK'94 you should, it's alongside Link's Awakening as the best things I played on the GB.

Yeah S&P + a SNES game would be a good choice too. Honestly it's hard to recommend WiiWare stuff other than Fluidity, because most of what was once exclusive has since been released on other platforms for cheaper.

Didn't see it mentioned but this week's Wii U retail releases are up in the US for those that get eShop versions. Shovelware galore!

Ben 10 Omniverse (D3) $39.99
Family Party: 30 Great Games Obstacle Arcade (D3) $29.99
Marvel Avengers: Battle for Earth (Ubisoft) $49.99
Rise of the Guardians (D3) $39.99

Shovelware galore!
Every single time I see a release list like this, games like this being built from the ground up, from complete development teams, and I just think, I just think of how Retro Game Challenge 2 and Half-Minute Hero 2 couldn't even have their texts changed from one language to another, and it makes me hate the whole world.

Wario Land 3!

Wario Land 3!

Wario Land 3!

NOA WHY ARE YOU SO SLOW WE DONT EVEN GET WARIO LAND 2 FOR ANOTHER 2 WEEKS WHY

I love that image, always have. I love that the guy is made out of jelly or something, like there are no bones or muscle in his body, he's just flail-wobbling everywhere. Maybe he's an Inflatable Wavy Tube Man or something. Hahaha.

It always hypnotizes me.

It's another "behind the scenes" update, so probably just a flashcart killer.
It's apparently out the same time as a Wii U update and it will be Nintendo Direct time later.
If it is just a flashcart killer update then Nintendo are trolling us with their timing.

Sin and Punishment is 1200 points

Damnit, I own Sin and Punishment as well.

Okay, let me rephrase.

Okay, CTRL-Fers, I need to spend exactly 2000 points on games that ARE NOT:

Zelda: Ocarina of Time, Zelda: Majora's Mask, Paper Mario, Sin and Punishment, Super Castlevania IV, Super Metroid, Kirby's Adventure, Super Mario Bros., Gate of Thunder, Strong Bad, Samurai Showdown 2, Defend Your Castle, FFCC: My Life as a King, Lost Winds, Lost Winds 2, Bomberman Blast, Toki Tori, Mega Man, Mega Man 2, River City Ransom, Super Mario World, Zelda: Link to the Past, Streets of Rage 2, NyxQuest, World of Goo, Lit, Orbient, Contra Rebirth, Bit Trip Beat or Core, SMB 3, Excitebike World Rally, Cave Story, FFCC: My Life as a Dark Lord, Castlevania Rebirth, Sonic 3 or KNuckles, Donkey Kong Country, Fluidity, Jett Rocket, FAST Racing League, Secret of Mana, or Maboshi's Arcade. Also no Metal Slugs or Chrono Trigger because I own them elsewhere.

Uh, help?

Rondo of Blood (TGCD, 900 Points), Phantasy Star (SMS, 500 Points), Military Madness (TG6, 600 Points).

RE: La-Mulana, the original game was freeware, the WiiWare version is a remake with new graphics, remixed music and a ton of new content. Definitely worth getting, but be warned, it's quite difficult.
