Nintendo DS: $129.99 Today! Who is in?

The price drop goes into effect today right? Anyone else besides me going to purchase one?

I am in Flushing (NYC). Does anyone know which spot I should hit up. I am hoping to find a couple of used DS games in the small gameshops on main street.

With the Xbox 360 being $400+, I wonder if the DS will benefit from folks who want a "new" system later this year? A pretty nice lineup of games and a price drop. Obviously it's going to get a boost, but I just wonder if any people planning Xbox360 purchases would ditch their previous plans?

Just thinking aloud here.

Do you know of many people going in, wanting a console to play on their TV (and home theater system) and actually ending up with a portable?

Ive yet to buy a handheld and I wa splanning to get one during my birthday which is in October, but i still dont know which one to get. DS is cheaper and has quite a few good games. PSP doesnt have much going for it apart from MGA but those new WE9 images havent helped me make the decision.

Where in Flushing? There are a number of GameStops and EBs around there.

Hey Alpha (Forest Hills right??)

I live closer to Northern Blvd/Main Street. Im in East Flushing but I can walk to Downtown Flushing (Chinatown/Koreatown) to all the small game shops there.

Basically I know

GameStop (Roosevelt)
GameFan (Main St)
Dead Asian Guy / Busy Bee Game Guy (Main Street)

Games F Us (Northern Blvd) <--------- my last option. Higher prices and sales tax on used games. FcK outta here.

Huh? This doesn't make much sense.

*Goes out to buy high powered console. Uh oh. Too expensive*

*Buy low powered portable instead*

I still need a free game of my choice (Or pack in Advance Wars. Screw Mario 64) at 129.99 for me to buy it. This isn't much of a price drop to me. I'll wait for 99 bucks.

No, because the $169.99 CDN price is completely out of whack with the exchange rates. I'll probably pick up two the next time I head down to the States.

If the pink DS were out I'd be in. I got $30 of someone elses money I can have spent towards while I stick with my planning of only paying $99~

Yeah, I'm in the Rego/Hills area. I'm trying to think of a game store near your way...but can't come up with anything. I guess you could take the train down to Forest Hills/Rego Park or something. We have 4 EBs and 3 GameStops within a mile of each other + a Best Buy.

Still 80 bucks too expensive. Sorry, count me out. :p

Please, don't be stupid. If you're going to troll, don't make it be so obvious. Your loss kid.

Anyway, I really hope Advance Wars doesn't get too owned by Nintendogs on Tuesday. I'm hoping Nintendogs gets a lot of people to pick up a DS and while they're at it, decide to get "the other game" coming out Tuesday, heh. Maybe help spike sales of Kirby, Meteos, and whatever else too.

Walmart has it for 129.99 - I'm getting mine today with Nintendogs. :) I think the fact that I know so many great games are coming (Mario Kart, Animal Crossing, Castlevania DS, Zelda DS, Advance Wars, etc) and that I'll be playing online makes the purchase an easy one.

I'm not getting one right this second, but I'll probably end up having one by the holidays. I really didn't want to have to get it, but some of the games on the horizon are just too much for me to ignore.

There's a small part of me that wants to hold off until next year, though, to see if there's any kind of redesign...

$20 price drop is shit. $99 and maybe I'll consider it. but the answer will still be no since I find it pointless to own more than 1 handheld

I thought you'd have learned your lesson since May. :)

I'll be getting myself one of these once I get some travel plans squared away. Also, I'm a tad annoyed by the pricing in Canada. It's as if the stores are anticipating the Canadian dollar to return to its far crappier levels.

Man, every time I look at the advance wars boxart, i always think of scooby doo until i realize it's awds.

I've seen you to go after other people posting negative opinions on Nintendo in other threads. I feel honored that you've chosen me among all the other people saying the price drop is too little.

130 bucks for a DS is still too expensive, I'm sticking by this! :D

Has to be $99 or less and redesigned before I'll bite.

So the console has to look better for you to play the good games on it?

I hope you don't have an Xbox.

$20 bucks isn't that great a price drop. I agree $99 w/Mario and I'll bite.

Man, are you people out of your mind? $20 isn't a great price drop for an 8 month old portable? I can't believe you would actually expect them to drop the price more than that right now.

I get that there are still quite a few people still stubborn as to admit DS hasn't had good games coming out for it and there's no reason to get one yet, but come on.

The console could use a redesign. The face buttons need to be pushed a little higher and the whole system is too fuckin fat. They need to trim it down. If they redesign it I would sell my shit and buy it again.

IAWTP. Why haven't the mods banned that asshole yet?

Anyway, in regards to the topic at hand. I've already got a DS, but it'll save me 20 bucks come Christmas if I decide to get my fiance an electric blue one.

I was planning on buying an Xbox 360 on release day, but now that I have a DS and a PSP to buy some great games for, I have put the Xbox 360 plans on hold for now.

My hands scream at the thought of holding the thing with one hand, on one side, while using the stylus. PSP and GBA SP were bad enough about making my hands cramp up/ache. If the thing looked like an ounce of ergonomics for its intended purpose went into its design, I'd be more interested.

Of course, it doesn't help that the thing is ass-ugly, nor that there aren't any games currently out for it that I want. I can definitely afford to wait for Nintendo to make the system more worth my while.
