So the purpose of the dongle, is basically you plug it into your PC, and then the DS connects to that and gets you online as opposed to trying to setup the DS to go directly through your router?

EDIT: What is Animal Forest? I saw it on the first page of this thread.... Is that just a new name fro Animal Crossing?

Yes.

Old name: Japanese name has always been Animal Forest.

PSP Owners are like: "It's good to be on the WHINING team" LOLAMIRITE?
Now, now. Nintendo fans should show that they are the bigger people. Whereas Sony fans adopt the attitude of "@$#% Nintendo. They killed my family and I will hate them forever because they suck at everything and Sony is where the real fun is and I think Nintendo are stupid heads," we can just accept them into our community without guilt trips and without insults. Let us not stoop to their level -- no rubbing in and no pictures of bricks.

some of the ds exuberance around here does seem a little feigned! i mean, this time last year you wouldn't be tripping over each other to buy the game about the anime lawyer who points at people...

While I see your point, the evidence suggests that, for example, the lawyer game is very good. Why shouldn't we be excited at an update to a good game? Same goes for much of the other stuff in the lineup. Not to mention the volume and salability does get people excited because it translates to more support and thus, more good games in the future.

Ok So here is another dumb wi-fi connection question. My house has a wireless router already, all my PC's are setup using this wireless router. Can I just open my DS, turn on Mario Kart and conect to their wi-fi service? Or do I need to buy that USB key and plug that into my PC?

Any info would be great.

Nope, you're all set.

O_O O_O O_O O_O O_O

Question:

If I took this dongle and hooked it directly into the Cable Modem's USB port (as opposed to my comp) would I be able to get on wirelessly, or do I have to go through my computer instead?

I'm asking since my cable modem is right by my TV, and I have a 50 some foot cable running into my computer, and if I plan on getting a Rev or PS3, unless the range is fairly large, it'd just be easier to plug it directly into the CM.

I'm very happy with the news about the "dongle". I've recently been struggling to get my PSP online and finally succeeded, but it took way too long. With this I will be able to play DS games online right from my house.

At long last... FF3 lives. The graphics look quite nice, although that may be the tiny screens blending with my hopes, dreams, and imagination. I recognize the opening cave, a fight with goblins, and the first boss, the turtle/dragon thing that guards the first crystal.

I'm starting to really want a DS. Lying around on the couch playing Mario Kart online while watching TV out of the corner of my eye...that's just Lazy Man's Heaven, there.

Does anyone get the feeling that a year and half from now there will threads like this about Revolution games/features?

Nintendo goes the cheap route, and it might just pay off.

I don't fucking believe all this. What a great thread to wake up to!!

New FFs, crazy new online plan, crazy amount of support, and a shit-ton of games I can't wait to get.

*passes right back out*

Edit - Dynasty Warriors DS looks like it'll be everything the GBA game tried to be.

according to IGN, Bleach DS will be online

IMPORT GET, HEAT THE SOUL AM CRY

if onlyu capcom would announce Megaman 9 for the DS, the day would be perfect

"Daredemo Asobi Taikai - This title boasts a collection of (at least) 42 instantly accessible popular boardgames. With wireless support for up to 8 players and DS download play integration, the game should prove very popular for groups to enjoy. It is due early November."

That does sound like a game for the masses. It will complement Brain Training 2 well.

HOLY SHIT. 0_o

Words can't express how interested in this I am...

Oh man, these are all just great.

That Brownie Brown art is giving me a stiffy stiff. The DS is now officially fucking the PSP right in the bottom.

If I had to hazard a guess, the Dongle will come with Mario Kart and Animal Crossing.

I don't know about that. Nintendo-Europe had an article on Mario Kart and they mentioned the dongle with a seperate price.

An adventure game featuring anime-style characters and 2D artwork. The game seems to take place in modern-day Tokyo. Red Entertainment, the developer of the Sakura Wars series, is listed as the game's developer.

hum, this one sounds really interesting, finally more adventure games

I agree that the dongle will be sold separately but they'll probably do a bundle of an online game + dongle for a good price.

If it was Mario Kart, I'd think we would have seen the SKU pop up somewhere...we're crafty like that. I'm guessing it might bundle with AC, though and simply be available separately for MK launch.

Jesus where did all these games come from -.-!

Mario Basketball while being another cheesy mario sports game, actually looks good???

I need some of these released, pronto.

I can't take this news, last week I was looking at pics of a Pokemon puzzler and princess game thinking man those look kinda cool. Then I was all amped for MANA!!!. Now all I can do is leave my mouth open in awe. Nintendo, are you back! Has your cocoon have finally been cracked and you are now showing us your new Butterfly body. Honestly, FF 1-6 can be played on a DS, and the 3D titles are finally coming around. I am so happy I could spit!

Sorry about that PSP, let me get a towel.

Good looking 3D, interesting controls, developed by Square-Enix, fully online. That's almost surreal. :lol

The dongle shouldn't work just in the USB port, usually you need software drivers for such things.

On a side note has there been any information about Crystal Chronicles DS? Enquiring minds want to know.

Final nail in the coffin for PSP

This is all very impressive for the DS. FFIII with its fully remade graphics has me by the balls.

Oh and I wonder what JackFrost has to say since he has been telling everyone repeatedly that FFIII DS wasn't going to happen. :)
