At Iwata's speech at TGS they showed that box art with the logo there.
Is that so? I'm surprised I hadn't noticed it before. I guess it got lost in all the crazy reactions to the controller.

That really can't be the final version of the Mario Kart box, can it? I know it's been around for a few weeks, but taht's just so plain... (and they changed the Mario Kart logo!)

For the better if you ask me.

I love these graphics hope NOA will use similar versions

someone needs to translate that site so we have all the info

EASY. SAFE. FREE.

Best tagline for an on-line service.

It talks about if you only want to play against friends, then you will get a 12 digit "Friend Code" that you can give to your friends that you want to play Mario Kart with.

I cannot totally translate that part though, maybe someone else can help.

Any third-party news? :)

Not in this particular online version of the conference.

wow with Mushi-1 GP ( SEGA Beetle Game ) well be relesed on 11\24 and Pokemon Dunogn some time in November the DS is going to sell even more ;)

I like the easy and free part but what about the safe part?

What is that even supposed to mean?

Safe is probably referring to kids playing online. With the 12 digit number they can make sure they are only playing people that they know.

got that right, i like his thinking. solidify their handled base. then go on full assualt on the console ground with different game play style. Iwata-san is the man.

Im Suprised no one else has picked up on this, I cant read Japanese for anything and I've only posted what I got from Nintendo.co.jp.

Ok, insanely stupid question time.

Is there any sort of device which can be plugged into a standard router to enable wifi access? Anything which is cheaper than buying a new router with wifi functions built in?

(Edit: Ok, what I'm talking about appears to be a "bridge"... right?)

Just use this:

Or else you gotta buy a new router completely.

You could use a PCI Wifi Card or a Laptop Wifi Card but Dongle is Cheap as more so then a PCI Card.

It doesn't look like it. If you have the Bufferlo's router that supports AOSS then you are in luck because in the conference they said that as long as your router supports the AOSS technology (and the one from NEC), then it will work.

I don't imagine the USB connector will be that expensive anyway, since Nintendo is emphasising that everyone can acess it. It would be like $50 max.

Oh by the way, in Mario Kart you can choose to play against:

- Friends
- Random people within your country
- Random people around the world
- Rivals

It's interesting how you can choose to play against Rivals... I wonder how that would work.

I'm transfixed by this gibberish. What does it all mean?

It means Easy, Safe, and Free.

didnt they say it was going to be 30 bucks? or was that conjecture by gaffots?

So Hang on if you Existing Wifi Router or USB Dongle Dont have this AOSS it wont work?

Haha I don't know you see, I am not in a group of informed people :P I am probably wrong.

Ok. I'm thinking the answer to my question is "no" -- there is NO device which plugs into a router and acts as a wifi access point?

I'm asking as I don't plan to leave my computer on at all hours, so the USB device is a bit annoying. I know that I can buy a wifi router, but I was hoping there was some weird little gimmick that plugged into the router and allowed wifi access. I mean, I could plug a wifi router into my STANDARD router and kludge together wifi that way... so it seems like there should be a device that plugs into a CAT5 network cable and allows WIFI access.

(Edit: Excuse my extreme density... I appear to be blathering on and on about something which appears to be fairly standard... a "wireless access point". I should be able to obtain one of these, plug in into my router, set it up via a browser based interface, and then allow wireless acess! [Assuming it supports the wacky A-something or anyother thing people keep mentioning.]
Right?)

I think they have manual settings for advanced users. Jim Merrick mentioned something about that in an interview.

leave your computer on, turn off the monitor if you're not using it. Better yet, sign up to one of the computing powersharing networks and instead of having useless screensavers, donate computing power to worthy causes when you're away or asleep. Restarting your CPU everyday isn't good on the computer.
