Nintendo DS E3 demo's -> Download here

I've downloaded these, but I need a tutorial for dummies to how to get them on my DS

I have no wireless hardware what so ever.. so please tell me what to get..

If any of you pick up a PCI card with a compatible chipset, any chance you could check the store you're getting it from to see if they ship internationally (to the UK?)

I wish newegg.com did >:(

Will installing the drivers mess anything up on the computer?
In the readme.txt it says that I'll need to reinstall my old drivers or something like that.

I wish there was an easy way to do this.

If you install the DS drivers, the card will not work for wireless internet connectivity (unless you reinstall the original drivers). People don't seem to grasp this.

If your card isn't on that list, the probability of it having the RT2560 chipset approaches zero.

I don't like it.
Christ, the cards are less than $20 and pose no risk to your computer. I thought it was a killer deal, myself :P

Will everyone have to buy the same wireless card for DS online play?
DS online play will require a standard wireless router; they may offer something easier to set up for the computer-incompetent. It won't connect through wireless cards, that's for sure.

Yeah how do I go about trying to change my wireless cards drivers to the new one after it's already been installed?

I've got a mini-pci Intel Pro Wireless BG card in my laptop, so figure I may as well try.

First make sure it's the RT2560 chipset (there's a more or less complete list at http://ralink.rapla.net/). Intel's not on it, so you're out of luck. That's not exactly a surprise, as Intel sells its own wireless chipsets to third-party vendors.

If you had a compatible card, you'd open (for Windows XP) Control Panel | System | Hardware | Device Manager. You'd click "Network Adaptors," right-click the card you want to turn into a dedicated DS communications device, and select "Update driver." You'd then point it at the directory into which you unzipped the appropriate DS-friendly drivers for your system.

This works

They are!
In that thread from neo2046 about the announcements in Famitsu, Nintendo said that down the line there will be a wireless USB adapter to let you play online through your PC's internet connection.

In other news, I managed to score myself a compatible wireless NIC for au$5.50 from ebay this morning, can't wait to try the Meteos demo. :D

That's awesome! How cheap do you think it will be?

Heh, I have no idea, I don't think it will be cheap though. I mean.. it's going to be a fairly complex little unit, it has to pick up on your net connection and then beam it out to your DS.

don't go buying it just yet, it seems he hasn't written a driver for tha ralink compatible usb adapters yet.

I misunderstood the author's comment about that specific D-Link usb adapter (he said he was working with it) but it seems like that was for something else.

Ooer, cool.

I just received my NIC in the mail today and have been toying with playing the demos, I can so see the rest of my afternoon being spent playing the Meteos demo. :D

edit: Meteos rocks. oh my god, puzzle gaming at it's finest, it's annoying though that the demo has a time limit 'cause by the time you're really getting into it it stops. :/

Screw Pokemon Fishing :P

Meteos is currently my most-anticipated DS game. There's nothing like shooting 2/3 of the screen off at once!

I'm thinking of trying this out... but before I go screwing around with my brother's PC (the only here with the needed combination of wireless card and OS), is there any way to make switching the card between its DS and regular networking purposes a bit quicker? A way to save the different settings, or make a batch process for the changes?

has anyone played the goemon demo yet?

That is mystical ninja DS right?

I just placed an order on newegg.com, so long as demos keep coming in from Japan, this will be a very good purchase.

I played it for like 5mins. I didn't see anything THAT cool in that demo, but it's fun. Meteos and Submarine tech demo are the best :D

So switching back and forth is really pretty painless. Just happened to be looking at guides that took 10 steps to painstakingly say "Change the driver".

It's just a minigame from the real game, Goemon remote-controlling a fighting robot. It's kinda fun (once you realize what button is self-destruct, anyway :lol), but it's not substance of the real game.

Just to let you know - Famitsu Wars demo (j) is available. Looks like only the combat mode is available.

Anyway to make this work on a wireless router rather than a PCI card? :(

You need a gba flashcard+passme. Or you can flash the firmware of your DS with Flashme(if you don't have a passme) so that you don't need a passme(or a PCI card) to run homebrew demos with a flashcart. Problem with flashme is that you still need a compatible pci card to upload the firmware to DS, but you only need to flash it once.
