Nintendo E3 plans detailed

It has been other times

Hat_tipping.png

Um, it is a solid mass in that image. :P

I think this is indeed the first time Mario's hair has been drawn or rendered as, well, actual hair.

Haha, seeing the press release I just knew the conclusion jumpers would go for the focus on 2017 angle. Never change negative people. To be fair, I expected from the start that Nintendo would be coy with details regarding potential 2018 releases, but they will have something ready to show for folks who look at the long term.

Regarding news... hard to say. Third parties will be absent I suppose.

No, but I think they'd space it out. This year is already multiplayer heavy for them.
Yeah, ports should be gap fillers. If the year is pack push them back for a few months
Nintendo just needs to mention Metroid or an exclusive Platinum game and they win.
It's been a really long time since a PG proper game has been on a Nintendo system. (SF0 was a collaboration where they didn't handle the gameplay and it's been like 3 years since Bayo 2)
Hope we see them too. Probably my favorite 3rd party studio.
It does sound like they're working on *something* based on a few quotes and being on their partners list

Focus on 2017 isn't really the way to go. Nintendo has been excessively over secretive for their own sake these last months and everyone is expecting them to reveal their titles at E3, because there's a huge limbo of announced projects, as well their third-party support.

This actually concerns me if Nintendo is facing internal problems after the restructuring of their development divisions and the over secrecy is a way to hide those struggles. If they aren't announced their 2018/2019 projects at E3, when they gonna do it, then?

Do you have the quotes by chance?

Directs like they always do.

Well with directs they can literally announce new games whenever they want. It's why even if Nintendo were doing 2017 games only it wouldn't really be cause for concern except from people who want the "The Hype!" or whatever, because they can just announce more games later at their own convenience.

Nintendo should assure everyone there are plenty of games this year. It makes sense. I'm glad they have enough 2017 games to fill out a whole presentation.

Yeah, no kidding

They failed to announce the Switch at last E3 and it didn't come out because of a lack of places to reveal it

They're really not understanding how time only exists that one week in LA and then everything shuts down everywhere else

Behold!

If you're wondering why stuff like Splatoon 2, Fire Emblem Warriors, etc isn't on there, it's because I'm 100% sure they're gonna at least show up in some form or another at the show so I preferred to do actual predictions instead. ARMs is on there because it releasing so close to E3 and also having a tournament makes me a bit unclear as to whether they'll show it during the Spotlight.

Nice card! I'll do one as we get closer to E3. You don't think FFVIIR or KH3 gets announced for Switch?

They can announce games whenever they want. The point of the "2017 focus" is to get people excited for the holiday season. Also 99% sure they'll announce games for next year.

Not only that, but it's just bizarre that people are disappointed about hearing about games that are actually coming out soonish.

Kinda, kinda not. The crux of it is that people are looking for announcements, and there's the implicit assumption that we already know most of what's coming out in 2017. There have been many cases where games get announced at E3 and released within the year, but it's not the norm. And it makes sense for it to not be the norm, since it's hard to keep secrets as games get deeper in development, and the extra time to market the game probably helps too.

But I get where you're coming from. The wait for some games gets brutal.

If absolutely nothing else, Odyssey is guaranteed. And Odyssey looks like it could be BotW-tier greatness -- a potential Game of the Show.

I'm so excited for Super Mario Odyssey. I think it'll end up being one of the greatest games ever. Like whatever gets announced or not I just can't wait to hear about games Nintendo already announced like Odyssey.

The big game is Xenoblade Chronicles 2. We'll get to see a lot more info and gameplay. We'll finally know if it's a 2017 or 2018 game.

I'm really looking forward to Treehouse. It's going to be great this year. They'll go in depth with Mario + Rabbids. I want to see everyone's reaction and thoughts on it as we see more.

I wish some of you guys would be excited about what's announced too. We know new games will be announced.

As many others have said, Nintendo can crank out a Direct to announce games whenever they want. They aren't bound by E3 exclusively. Plus, Nintendo has been transitioning to the method of announcing things much closer to their actual release this time around. The Switch itself was revealed and released within the span of 5 months, that's even shorter than the PS4 and Xbox One's reveal to release time-frame. Plus many of the games announced at the January event are slated for this year and/or have already released. Nintendo clearly wants to make sure the 6 month droughts and sloppy development cycles of the Wii U era never happen again, and once they phase out the 3DS completely, I think we can agree their output can only get stronger.

Plus, they never ruled out the possibility of new games for 2018. Just don't expect anything that's too early in development to be shown.

PlatinumGames has already come out saying we’re developing games for the Nintendo Switch, so we understand what the hardware is capable of. Which is why the price was surprising. This thing is seriously cheap. I think it’s the result of a tremendous amount of work, and it’s an indication of their strong desire to see their hardware reach a lot of markets.
Here

I would like for Platinum to port Bayonetta 2 then start developing Bayonetta 3. Would be cool if they also teamed up with Konami and ported Metal Gear Rising.

No, really they don't.

The Big Sony e3 was all about games that have been delayed forever or are still ways off from release. TLG/7R/Shenmue 3.

Thats nice from time to time...but if possible i prefer them to focus on stuff that is happening in the next 12 months.

We should at least Platinum reveal a game this year even if it's not at E3 since they've been doing it for the last couple years.

Hopefully the Stars align for Pokemon on Switch.

Again, even though the chances at less than 0, if Skyrim support mods on the Switch, then it is an automatic buy.

I expect atleast 5 new game announcements for switch at e3, whether it's 1st party or 3rd party.

They announced a lot at the January reveal, and I believe they could potentially match that.

The wording is very focused on Mario odyssey though, which leads me to believe something like smash bros won't be taking part.

So ips that don't sell on the left and those that have a chance on the right?

More like wet dream IPs every Nintendo fan wants on the left, and games Nintendo fans don't expect on the right. Somehow, it became an unwritten rule with Nintendo at a major event that if it's not a dormant IP or a port everyone wants, it's trash. Case in point, the initial negative reactions to Splatoon, 1-2 Switch, and ARMS.

what i want nintendo to announce at e3:
- seiken densetsu collection coming to the west, adding a legend of mana port
- sequel to marvelous: another treasure island
- famicom detective club getting western localization
- nintendo has the popeye license again
- endless ocean 3, only this time it will look good
- snes classic with actraiser
- seaman 3
- mario & wario port for 3ds
- bonsai barber 2
- pilotwings 64-2
- 3d starfy

i expect all of this will come true

So you guys think that TPC will actually be a team player & reveal Stars at E3, or do you think that they'll continue to do reveals on their own terms.....assuming that Stars is real!

Assuming it's real, you'd think they'd reveal it between now and e3 (if it's out this year)

I don't think Splatoon had a negative initial reaction. It was during E3 2014, during a very positive time for Nintendo

It was when release date was coming up and Nintendo was starting to advertise it non-stop, that people thought Nintendo were kidding themselves that Splatoon would sell well.

C'mon dude, stop making strawmen to make damage control. Nintendo can easily reveal their 2018 or even 2019 projects at E3, this "we'll only coverage this year's schedule" is just disappointing and unnecessary from Nintendo's part. It won't hurt them at all by revealing their future projects, actually it'll build prospects and expectations for the machine's future lifetime. It's silly to believe revealing titles for 2018/2019 will eclipse 2017's schedule as some believe (or they believe). Let's hope this is actually not true but nothing but speculation.
