Nintendo E3 Press Conference?

Anyone know the date/time of the Nintendo press conference this year? I haven't had a chance to talk to my PR person yet and I'm making hotel plans, etc.

Yep they should go last, if revolution is something both unique and sensible, they could make sony's and microsoft's technology look obsolete ;P

Its not likely, im expecting to be dissapointed by Revolution, but hope im wrong.

I remember them going second last year, after sony with microsoft in the afternoon.

they went last, and no lie, they had the best press conf (aside from MS)

The conferences normally happen the day before the expo right? (Or is MS the day before that? Can't remember). That would put Nintendo's on May 17th anyway.

Unless it's the daybefore the conference, in which case May 16th.

The only difference between Sony's conference last year and Tylenol PM is that Sony's made your headache WORSE as it put you to sleep. I'm not saying their stuff wasn't solid, but the conference just draaaaaaged soooooo muuuuuuuuuuch. Then when we thought we were going to hear something about PS3, it was just a bunch of random, meaningless slides about the Cell processor, with Masa Chatani saying things like

ZA CERU. RET YOU JAKKU IN TO ZA SAIBA WARUDO.

But nothing will beat Nokia's Press conference.

2003:
"Yeah, Ngage is about games! Let's see them right now!"
*video doesn't start, swedish guy looks VERY angry
"Errr, now remember that Ngage is blablabla"

2004:
"Nokia made a mistake with the original unit and..."
*mic went dead

Poor them, we saw a guy in the front row sleeping, ahahaha! At least the chicks were cute.

if reggie is there I don't care if it was the last or the first , all I want is to see someone kicking asses and taking names :lol

I liked the Sony press conference, although I agree it was a long-powerpoint presentation. Mostly because of hearing how Sony and Kaz think building an online platform should be. I'll be pretty excited if it does come into fruition.

But, when the PSP was finally presented during the conference, it wasn't an "oh wow" thing. Which is kind of disapointing. Kaz's buisness like approach to unveiling the PSP just wasn't appealing me.

Nintendo and Microsoft have a bit more... enthusiasm during their press conferences. I usually watch them first.

Most people are *already* expecting Revolution to suck:
-revolutionary feature = gimmick
-controller = alienating to gamers & game makers
-propriety format that alienate's game makers & makes ports more difficult
-no online
-kiddy games
-oddly shaped/colored console casing
-no support
-not hi-powered (not as good graphics compared to the competition)

I think Nintendo will surprize these people and hopefully address all of the above concerns. Alot of people expected DS to totally suck...alot of people expected Nintendo to have a suck-ass E3 like they did in 2003...alot of people expected a Wind Waker sequel and NOT a realistic mature LOZ.

FFS. IT IS JANUARY.

It really bugs me when people start harping on about E3 "plans" this far in advance (with exception to hotels, which you should get booking now if you wanna stay downtown).

The publishers themselves do not even have dates for the conferences yet.

But you can safely assume it will be like normal (MS Day-2, SCE & N Day-1).

NOKIA conference disaster blah

Nokia's 2003 conference (and its aftermath on a bus down the freeway with just one journalist pal - folder - as we escaped early and commandeered a Nokia bus for ourselves) was by far one of the funniest experiences I’ve ever had in the biz, I cried so much from laughter.

I gave 2004's Nokia miss though, nothing could match 2003.

I went to the Nokia 2003 party. Jesus Christ that was boring. The only fun I had was when the Groovaloos, or whatever their name was, were dancing.

Cool thing is, one of them was playing pool with one of the people I went to E3 with.

Oh yeah, forgot. The people who planned the whole thing in general didn't have the idea that people may be over 4 feet tall when they designed the kiosks.

The later proped the things up with cinder blocks.

Hohoho, that 2K4 conference was a blast. I was ever so thankful for the open bar.

Nintendo's conference will likely be the last of the big three like it usually is, sometime around early afternoon on Tuesday, May 17th (and just barely enough time after the Sony conference to haul ass across town to it). I'm guessing it'll take place in the convention hall on the 3rd/4th floor of the Kodak Theater complex at Hollywood & Highland once again.

You were there too? Wasn't it hilarious how the one Nokia exec had some verbal tic whenever he was lost his train of thought (or grip on English language), sounded like "Eeeh-aah."

"Theee-ahh games we have coming eee-ahh out this year eee-ah will showcase the power eee-ahhh of the N-gage system and eee-ahh there are many eee-ahh titles..."

I should post the video clips I shot... And what was up with that wretched clip of the game "Rifts"? It was so bizarre that it silenced the chuckling crowd momentarily.

Good drinks and entertainment value made attending worth it though, even though it took place in a part of town where I was reluctant to park on the street. And Pepcom's eFocus was right around the corner afterwards, so that was convenient.

But if it was something truly revolutionary, wouldn't it be funny to watch Sony and Microsoft scramble and then fumble through their press conferences?

Not saying its likely, but I'd for sure bring snacks.

The worst part was that, even then, I still tried to take the press conference as a serious matter that I would be reporting back on. So I took notes, asking questions that I thought would be neat tidbits for an article, that sort of thing. It was about the time they showed Glitterami that I just gave up and started sketching. And the technical difficulties, my oh my. I cringed when they announced SSX, was half-tempted to go up to the EA folk and express my sympathy.

Am I the only one who noticed that Wolfgang Puck catered the Nintendo Press Conference? (the bags with dried fruit & Pretzels had a ribbon that mentioned WP Catering.)

That's just wacky. The really nice Timbuk2 bags as well... I missed out on Microsoft's press conference to hang out with Ted Levine/Tony Shaloub/rest of the cast of "Monk", but I'd have to say this was the most enjoyable of the 3 conferences (from what I heard of MS's).

You and everybody else. It's fucked up when you go to an industry party now because everybody has their Nintendo bags and you have to make sure you don't walk out with somebody else's.

I think you just proved 99% of posts from fanboys posing as armchair industry analysts are wrong. Which isn't far from the truth.

D-Pad is a gimmick
3D is a gimmick
Analog Stick is a gimmick
Rumble Pak is a gimmick

Enough of you retards!
Just fuck off already!

This might be (depending on how the application goes) my first year to E3, about the conferences... are they invite-only (to the established, big press) or something open to any E3 attendee with a press pass?

BS, most people don't know anything about Xenon, Revolution or PS3 (and they only know a bit less than we do ;)).

That was possibly the most hilariously bad thing I have ever seen at a press conference. I would kill for a scan of that slide with the "CyberWorld" graphic on it.

I don't care what happens as long as BuddyChrist sits next to me at the Nintendo conference again, man that rocked :)

Who's the guy in the clapping gif?

I was thrilled to hear you'll be attending E3 once again this year. To the bars!

Got another Miyamoto interview lined up this year?

You need to pre-apply to the companies (or their pr agencies) directly. Anybody can get into Nintendo's conference these days. MS is a little more strict while Sony is most strict on numbers. Consistently, it is easier to gain access using US PR contacts rather than international as they have largest seating allocation.
