Sorry then. Just wanted to say that some sparkle of hope like the Jan Direct was irrelevant at the end of the day, since the console was still in a godawful shape for many months to come and still is. So if they'd finally manage to get some good press through a good E3 show and some surprises again, it would also ultimately mean nothing if soon after you realise that this year would mostly consist of still cleaning up the ,,launch window'' mess and maybe Wii Sports and Mario Kart.
Then going off this train of thought the direct means nothing at all. Im not sure what you want. These games wont be out for awhile and the console may be selling poorly for awhile if thats the kind of stuff bringing you down. Its not like Nintendo wont support it...I really have no idea whats going on..

OMG, so much yes for a sequel to Donkey Kong 64!

Not gonna deny that DKCR was amazing, but I was kinda let down by the reveal since DK was leaked by IGN a couple of days before E3 and I thought Retro would be a perfect fit for a modern take on these 3D platformer/adventure hybrids. And as proven by DKCR anyway, the jungle can be a great place for Retros art direction to shine, even more so in open areas.

A good Nintendo console? I don't even remember some mid-Wii droughts being this bad, so I think it needs some immediate actions by Nintendo, not empty promises that are followed by 9 month delays of supposed launch software.

Can we expect some smaller directs before the main one on the 11th?

Please, say we can! Maybe a 3DS direct like they did last year?
The way it was worded originally made me think we would be getting a series of Directs, but it looks like we got that pretty lacklustre 'summer games' one, the E3 one and that's it. Oh, actually there was Friday's Japanese one and there's the Pokemon one at E3. But still, I would have liked a steady stream of Directs leading up to the main one to really build the hype.

I thought maybe one a week for the four weeks before E3.

Direct 1: Summer Wii U games, summer OS update.

Direct 2: Upcoming eShop games for both platforms.

Direct 3: Japanese-centric.

Direct 4: 3DS focused.

Eve of E3: 'Lesser' announcements, like reminder of upcoming games, third-party sizzle reel (Batman, Assassin's Creed, Watch Dogs, Deus Ex, etc), Wii U Fit and Wii U Party, anything non-gaming like apps, Miiverse improvements, and something to send the hype-meter into overload like artwork or a big hint.

E3: Pure, uninterrupted attention to the biggest games and megatons. Nothing showcased that isn't absolutely huge.

That way we would have had something to keep us going on the road to E3, keep attention on Nintendo, give attention to stuff that shouldn't be in the main Direct and hype, hype, hype the big show.

Instead I feel like I'm just clock-watching until June 11th. And while I have no doubt the show is going to deliver, because of the lack of smaller Directs I feel like things like the eShop are going to be overlooked.

Ain't no body got time for that.

It's 3-4 years between entries for the last 3, so I don't imagine it'll get released before holiday 2015 in Japan and maybe later in the West, unless their localization system really has improved.
:( Aren't the games made by different studios though? Hopefully we'll have it sooner than that..

Nope, same team at EAD makes all the AC games. It'll be a few years before it's released for sure. Even if they rush it and do it in 2 years, it'll be holiday 2014 before it's ready for Japanese release even.

But hey, by EatChildren's "theory" maybe Monolith Soft is developing the Wii U version since they helped out with the 3DS one, like Retro with Mario Kart. :P

A bit more of Nintendo direct fan fiction.

Iwata: I hope you enjoyed the upcoming games we have shown so far. We hope to deliver surprising new experiences through our partnerships with Tecmo, Capcom, Konami, Square Enix, Namco, CAVE, and other Japanese companies. Some people have said that Nintendo should further partner with Western development studi-

[Sounds of Mario yoo-hoo'ing, ya'haing, and Mario comes onto camera].

Iwata: Mario! What are you doing here? I am in the middle of telling our fans about upcoming games.

[Mario getting a mushroom sound effect, and Mario suddenly takes off his head to reveal..]

Iwata: Peter Moore!

Moore: Unprecedented partnership is real! [At this point, you can clearly see that Moore has "Nintendo" tattooed on his face]. I just wanted to clear something up. EA currently has no Frostbite games in development for Wii U - because our brand new engine, AVALANCHE, was built exclusively to take advantage of the Wii U hardware. Cue sizzle reel!

[Everything you ever wanted EA to make is shown, and it is dog-jaw dropping]

Iwata: [bows to Moore] Thank you Mr. Moore. What's this? [Sound of Luigi running in, woooahahahaha, Luigi comes on screen, trips, brushes himself off] Luigi!

Luigi: [Taking off his head...] Actually....

Iwata: Cliffy B!

Cliffy: What's up Nintendo Direct! Nothing to show today, except for these gigantic bags of gold Nintendo gave me to build my own studio to develop exclusive Wii U games! Keep an eye open next E3!

Iwata: [laughs]

Thanks for the information, even if it is a little disappointing to hear:)

You guys are forgetting the 20 minutes we'll have with some random NOA guy talking about Super Luigi U, Animal Crossing 3DS, Game & Wario, Shin Megami Tensei 4, Pikmin 3, The Wonderful 101, Mario Party 3DS and Mario Golf: World Tour. Besides, there will be some sort of summer firmware update, so I guess Iwata will talk about that.

There will probably be just about 35 minutes (or less) of really relevant information. =(

Yes. Because it's more assuming from my part than real confirmation.

I shouldn't have included that in the title in the first place.

went back and re-watched the January wii u direct...got hyped probably more then i should have. i understand that it could suck if that was all we got to see was these already announced games shown, but i mean we haven't really saw anything from these games so it could be potentially awesome. really looking forward to bayonetta 2, smt x fire emblem and x...i hope all 3 make appearances

Hello guys,

It seems a french website have caught the program of the Nintendo Direct via the Nintendo's YouTube Channel.

Seems legit but hard to say if all is true in this list...

WHAT WHAT

edit: the fact that they said Retro studios and not the name of the actual game shows that it is a bunch of bullshit.

I don't want to believe this is real. 10 minutes for pikmin. Oh my.
Also 3d Mario would be under Mario games lol. Also where is X :(

Are you telling me Nintendo is just gonna label their flagship title "Mario Game" or they're just gonna dedicate 4 minutes to all the 3DS games they have to show. And as others have said no Bayonetta 2, X or Yoshi. That list is clearly bullshit.

I kinda believed it at first glance though lol

Not really. On the 1.23.13 video description, X is listed as "Monolith Soft."

If this is a fake, it's a really good one.

Seems like a pretty realistic and safe list to me. It's not like Nintendo hasn't dedicated long amounts of time to a single part of a game at E3 before.

Besides, I was about to say that it is fake because the hyperlinks on Youtube are blue, not grey; but if you take your mouse away form the screen, the hyperlinks turn grey. That screenshot doesn't show the mouse near the text, so it is as it should be.

Wait,

No X?
No Bayonetta 2?
No Yarn Yoshi?
2 minutes to talk about Wind Waker? The hell are they gonna say in 2 minutes? That's not enough even for intro+trailer.
10 minutes on Pikmin? When they talked about it in the last Direct?

It cannot be real.
