This is exactly what I'm talking about. I just went on that compatibility site and searched Mortal Kombat Legacy Kollection. It gave me this:
Seems compatible with the Switch 2, so I click the "View product information" button, and it takes me here:
Seeing as how this game is supported by the Switch 2, you might go ahead and purchase it.
Congratulations. You just bought the inferior Switch 1 edition, with limited online play, worse input latency, and worse performance. Nowhere on the page does it even suggest there's a Switch 2 version. And if you buy the Switch 1 version, there is no upgrade path, so you're just fucked.
This happened to me. I searched for the collection on the eShop to pre-order it, and only the Switch 1 version came up. Because it said it was compatible with Switch 2 (in the same way Splatoon 3, which got a 4K and increased frame rate update, is compatible with Switch 2), I went ahead and purchased it.
Welp, fuck me, turns out there was a secret Switch 2 version that didn't pop up.
Oh, and by the way, even if you do buy the Switch 2 version, there is literally no acknowledgeable difference between the two once they're installed. The S2 version doesn't have the red "Switch 2" banner on it, and it doesn't say "Switch 2 Edition". They both appear 100% identical on your system.
Is this the Switch 1 or Switch 2 version? Guess what, there's no way to tell!
