What happened yesterday made no sense. Code Vein 2 was announced and there was no NS2 version, Onimusha was shown and there was no NS2 version, a new RE was announced and there was no NS2 version and so with a ton of multiplatform games, it's something that Nintendo should fix, there's no excuse anymore.

Probably all the announcement related to Switch 2 versions are going to be made on a Nintendo partner showcase, Not in a Geoff show.

Last years direct wasn't till 18th June and will only have been announced few days earlier so there loads of time, but for me I think they need a direct to show first party games coming not third party, never bought a Nintendo to play 3rd party when got a PlayStation or pc, Nintendo needs to show why people need to buy one for Xmas time, cause Pokémon and Metroid aren't it when the game is coming to switch 1 and looks slightly better on 2 , Nintendo needs some switch 2 only games to show off as at min only Mario kart and donkey Kong coming , after July there nothing yet exclusive to switch 2 from Nintendo

Wasn't one rumoured? Though we aint getting a Zelda in years, 3D Mario is ripe for a release though since we haven't had one for 8 years... also 40th anniversary and all.
I hope we get plenty of gorgeous Zelda remakes until then. I want them to look like Orioto paintings:

Didn't this showcase get like an F- rating from GAF, aside from RE9? Which I'm sure Capcom is figuring out if they can bring to Switch 2 as we speak?

I bet they'll have one in July. I don't know why I think that, that's just my guess.

If anything most people are so focused on Switch 2 that basically not announcing anything for it is what stands out lol it's basically occluding the E3-wannabe so far.

But yeah I hope more games get announced for it, specially F2P online competitive games, I really want to try playing with the mouse on it.

Fastest selling console of all time, and yet so many negative Switch 2 threads lol.

Genuine question, was the last time a Nintendo console had any decent 3rd-party support? I'm sure it'll come, they're almost guaranteed to have another 100m+ console. 3rd-parties would be stupid to avoid it.

Obsessions with Directs are bizarre to me. I see it on another site that I visit. People dedicate dozens of topics and thousands of posts to Direct predictions and it is the most hilarious thing ever to me. As if commercials are the solution to anything...

Reports allege that Nintendo may have moved 3M units already.
Three million units.
Three. Million. Units.
Do you think they care about any perceived damage control that a bunch of entitled and desperate brand gamers might need to sleep better at night? They're essentially just finally putting out hardware to match last generation and people are eating it up. Directs don't mean shit other than dopamine hits for the brand faithful.

What's with the constant snide meta commentary from you?

Then Nintendo needs to learn to let go and stop being control freaks and let people announce their own games.

This is like when Persona 3P, 4G, and 5R were all announced for Xbox and Playstaion and Atlus didn't say shit until two weeks later when Nintendo let it be announced via a Partner Showcase.

At some point you're just playing with your diehard fanbase and for what?

They created the direct format for something, giving all the announcements to Geoff is like going back to the E3 era… Also, if they make that you will see people saying that the direct doesn't showed any new announcements.

they are fine, Nintendo can go dead silence for a year that fans ll still be buying ports and interactive manuals.

I remember when we have to wait a whole year for a E3 to see new announcements. Thanks Nintendo for the direct format… These days people are too desperate.
Iwata was a visionary. Even people within Nintendo, there was a lot of uncertainty on this whole "Nintendo Direct" idea. Isn't it crazy how far the Nintendo Direct has come since October 2011.

Need a Direct dedicated to a new Fire Emblem (or the long rumored Fire Emblem Genealogy Remake/Remaster ) Game for Switch 2 ASAP!

I am shocked by the lack of Switch 2 announcements on the SGF and now on the Xbox Showcase.

I hope they are holding everything back, but I don't think that makes much sense. And I believe we had similar copium back when Switch 1 released.

I think it's time to prepare for another Nintendo console with lacking third party support.

Except that pretty much every third party announcement of the Switch 1 era, big or small, did come in a Nintendo Direct. I can't recall any Switch ports being announced during other showcases.

Also, we just saw essentially every major publisher show up with at least one major release during the Switch 2 Direct in April. Does anyone honestly think they all jumped ship between then and launch? Deeply silly behavior happening in this thread.

Edit: If you're determined to be on team doom & gloom, the better pessimistic narrative is "oh no, we're getting late ports again" not "the Switch 2 will get no third party support."

I agree. Nintendo needs to showcase some third party titles coming on the switch 2. Especially when millions just bought the new console.

Not everything will come to Switch 2, for sure, but I do buy the rumor that Nintendo is readying a Direct for this or next week, and it would be very like them to want to announce the games themselves. We'll see.

I think I saw one single Switch logo on the Xbox showcase. I certainly hope Nintendo is readying more announcements. Why bother buying exclusivity for Duskbloods unless you intend to provide that audience with more games in that vein?

Don't read too much into that. These trailers were likely submitted weeks ago.

The only Switch 2 logo I saw in the Xbox Showcase was for Tony Hawk 3+4.

With the PS5 logo on almost everything, it probably would have been better not to have Switch 2 there at all, leaving us to speculate, rather than just confirming it for a single game.

At the very least, it probably confirms none of those games will launch on Switch 2, with ports to come much later. At worst, it might suggest most of them aren't coming to Switch 2 at all.

Its now confirmed that Microsoft will not be a supporter of the Switch 2. Their focus is on the Xbox ROG handheld as well as Playstation ports. This means that yet another big publisher is removed as a possible supporter of Switch 2.

Nintendo first party games just became even more important for Switch 2 success.

The Switch 2 was announced in January in a Nintendo direct.
I'm talking about the release date which was announced a few weeks ago. Publishers aren't beelining Switch 2 ports of games that have been in development for other platforms. There's going to be a delay in most cases.

Hugo Martin was asked about a Switch 2 port of Doom Dark Ages recently and he wouldn't comment even though we all know it's coming.

You wouldn't see any new third party game announcement for the Switch 2 outside of a Nintendo direct… Tony Hawk 3+4 was already announced for Switch 2 in a direct.

That doesn't make sense, Microsoft is a third party company, they are going to support every platform available im the market. Also de ROG is just a PC Handheld.

Out of 200 or so game announcements this week, Switch 2 got 1 new confirmed game (Final Fantasy Tactics). So if a Nintendo Direct is meant to rectify that, doesn't the direct need to be a few hours long? :messenger_winking:

3rd party games haven't mattered on a Nintendo system since the SNES lol. That ain't gonna change now.

They especially don't matter when they're ports of games available elsewhere. If 3rd parties want a shot on Switch 2 they'll need to make games for it specifically, not just port inferior versions of things coming to other consoles. That's not going to let them compete with Nintendo software.

There will be a direct before DK, they don't really need to do anything at the moment.

I tend to think this is another case of 'it's not that important to normies'. I wonder how many people wanted to purchase a copy of MKW for their PS5, but were disappoint to know it's a Switch 2 exclusive. I guarantee they're out there.
