Nintendo Power - August 2008 (V231) - 20th Anniversary

Say what you will about the main game, but Bily Hatcher hadfucking awesome multiplayer. Oh how I wish I never lost that game...

Not enough to make it #13 on the list of the top 20 Gamecube games.

Yokoi? Who's that?

Rihanna's Umbrella and Michael Jackson's Black or White.

Ooh sweet, between this and GH4 it seems Michael's finally coming out of the closet of non-gaming. :D

this is the last time I read a Nintendo Power thread.

I was actually beginning to think them as a credible source.
Look around the WiiWare thread. I, Jiggy, and others think it is quite the enjoyable pick-up-and-play game.

Castlevania: Rondo of Blood
Mega Man: The Wily Wars

Super Punch-Out
Don't get me wrong, the readers' games are great but the staff list beats it out if only for being more niche (but LOL at All-Stars ever being on VC).

9. Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Justice For All
Why Justice For All? Why not Trials & Tribulations, the superior game?

*grumble grumble* Well, at least Ace Attorney got some recognition. Elite Beat Agents (#1!!!) and The World Ends With You makes me happy too, as well as No More Heroes and Zack & Wiki being on the Wii list.

Looks like their making amends for their terribly low score for Okami (7.5). I dig that list.

I'm pretty impressed with the "Best of the Best" lists. Of course, none of the lists look exaclty like mine would, but they are close enough. The current editors obviously have very good tastes in games. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I might have to start reading Nintendo Power again.

It wasn't terribly low. The PS2 version was better.

Lost in Blue: Shipwrecked (Wii) - Fall 2008

Nice.

Whaaaa???

Oh yeah, definitely going to be on XBLA.

Sonic Unleashed
-Wii stages share the same themes with PS360 version, but different designs to take advantage of the remote. Helped by Sonic Advance 2 and Sonic Rush teams

Interesting. So basically it'll be two different new side scrolling console Sonic games, and a DS version as well. Very cool. Looks like Wii + 360 + DS for me.

Game Boy is listed second and includes GBC games.

Right, missed that. I was originally going to just say "Virtual Boy", but then didn't notice the GB/C list...

Still, a Virtual Boy top 5 (or 10, it has enough good games) would have been great... what was there was good, darnit! :) And GB and GBC deserve either separate lists or a double-length list, because having just 20 places for two platforms that existed over a 14 year period is ridiculous.

The top 20 lists really get worse as they go on. JOD has no place in anyone's top 10, period.

Days of Ruin and Black Hole Rising not making their respective lists is a crime against humanity.

The Chocobo review sounds better than a 7.5, for what it's worth. The Hulk DS game sounds like they went the TMNT GBA route - real basic 2D action game that is good for what they gave you.

Wow the staff VC request list shits all over the Readers one. I can't believe people want mediocre titles like chrono trigger and smash bros 64 (which is crap compared to the later smash bros) over mario all stars and terranigma.

Well it's a good thing CT won't be on VC (or PSN) for a very long time then. But really, let's not be completely fictitious here: CT is incredibly overrated, but it certainly isn't mediocre. That label applies moreso to something like SMRPG (though personally, I'd file SMRPG under "crap").

CT was incredibly well put together for a beginner-to-intermediate player's RPG. It's also perfectly balanced. In fact, I don't know what they're going to do to "improve" the game when it gets a rerelease. Even an extra dungeon could possibly detract from the overall experience.

I'd much rather see games like Lufia and Lufia II see a VC release, they're possibly among the best of the 16-bit generation.

"Dark Dragon and Sword of Light", etc., so now I'm pretty sure that's what they're talking about.
