And what would a 2025 rare studio who just got a major game cancelled add to Nintendo?? Some of you act like you understand how these things work but I swear to god if you had any power at a company you will fuck it up worse than Phil Spencer and Jim Ryan ever did

Most people here think gaming business runs on nostalgia. I'm sure Sea of Thieves is way more appealing to todays kids compared to their N64 era "masterpieces"

Nah, Rare now sucks, they haven't made a good game since the N64.

They made a hugely successful game last gen which was their biggest game ever.

I mean their biggest IP is probably Banjo or Perfect Dark?

Not sure they really care about Perfect Dark and a Banjo would just overlap a lot with 3D DK/Mario games imo. They could probably make it work but I doubt it makes sense.

Their biggest IP ever is Sea of Thieves. That's all the studio is good for now. Sea of Thieves 2.

There's very little of the original rare left, this was a stupid idea even 5 years after the sale as it was clear the studio was either bleeding it's talent or those that remained were ground into the floor of creativity as they were forced to create Kinect avatars and the. Sea of thieves (not a fan and tried several times over the years to get into it)
So in 2025 the only useful thing left of rare would be their ip, which is a different subject, but again nothing that Nintendo needs, though they would make better use of it than Microsoft ever have

They only need the IPs and need to give them to Playtonic

Nah, they should buy AdHoc Studios who just made Dispatch and do a Nintendo-character Telltale-style game. Or apply the same principle to any number of indie studios who show promise or pedigree and give them money, IP, and time.

Completely pointless now, very few are left from the old days and the only notable thing they've done in the last 20 years is Sea of Thieves.

The 3DS really needed Rare titles during it's early years. If not for THQ going bust at the time they could have made another deal with Microsoft. They would have done great stuff with the hardware.

A few people left Ubisoft and they made Clair Obscure Expedition 33 which is the probable GoTY. I think saying there's no talent in Rare is a little unfair and definitely wrong. What they need is a new direction.
