Nintendo Still Has New COMPONENT CABLES In Stock

I just ordered mine, so it's safe for me to post! :lol

NoA's online store doesn't let you buy it, but you can order it over the phone (1-800-255-3700) Hours are from 6am to 7pm Pacific time.

I might be mistaken, but the Japanese component cables don't work with NTSC Cubes, right? Right or wrong, I've won @ $29.99!

Or you could have just been cool and bought them as soon as they were available, a full year before you had a TV that could use them.

*twirls his finger in the air with a self-important smile*

I bought them recently too.

It's sad that the only game I'll seriously use them with is Zelda. And that won't be for awhile. Hell, maybe I'll play it on my Rev by then...

I hope the Rev will have an identical digital out to that of the GC, so I can just re-use it on it and throw my GC away.

Yeah. I sold my cube a last year, but I've still got the component cables I ordered from Nintendo's website because I'm crossing my fingers they'll be Rev compatible. =)

I remember paying about 45 or 50 bucks canadian for these damned cables (after shipping, tax and all that jazz). It was both sad and funny I could have picked up another cube for the privileage of running in 480p ;) Oddly enough after I got these cables I had already finished Resident Evil 4 and haven't touched it since.. doh!

I hope they're not, because I gave away my cables after I sold my Gamecube.

I want component cables but $30+ isn't worth it for me considering I'll play my GC like 10 times a year :|

yep, my gc component cables are japanese and work fine. I got mine from play-asia when the Nintendo store was sold out at the time.

i've got the Q, and cables for it. but i dunno if those are the same as the regular gamecube. so if my Q ever dies, not sure if i could use them on a regular cube (if i could still find one that supports component at that point.)

but hell, i'll be buying a revolution and component cables.

I ordered online... I got my cables last week...

I don't play my GC much these days, but when I do I'm happy I got the component cables -- even at SD resolutions they really make a big difference. The GC outputs very well in component.

30 bucks for a set of cables kind of sucks, but they're very good. Maybe it's just the Cube output quality, but 480p looks really sexy on the Cube. The cheapo cables I got for my PS2 aren't nearly as good (still does 1080i in GT4 though...)

So yeah, here's hoping the Rev uses these cables too.

got my cables at the beginning of this month after being on back order

Sux that Tales of Symphonia doesn't have PScan or DLPII

But all of my other titles looks great! :D

GC has the best image quality this gen, component cables on it make for a breathtaking experience in some games. Paper Mario and Baten Kaitos for example.

I got mine off ebay for $45 and they just came in the mail yesterday. Doesn't appear to have any audio breakout cables whats up with that?

Plus, doesn't the GC have a digital TosLink out option?

You have to use the analog cables for the audio output, and no, the GC has no form of digital audio output. Pro Logic II's about the best you're gonna get.

Oh, and...

F-Zero GX + Component cable = Teh Sex.

Yeah and you can find F-zero for about $10 on amazon nowadays.....

I just taped my 1st party Nintendo analog cables with my component ones.

on a side note, as I mentioned in a previous thread, PS2 has the worse img quality this past Gen. High end TV and component cables make it worse =(

but I live with it

I still have a set of these from having my original Gamecube. I had sold it and recently picked up a new unit only to find that there's not output. WTF.

So you know, anyone want to buy these/trade for something equally as cool (hint: I want Onechanbara 1/2 for the PS2), hit me up.

I got mine for about 3 bucks used at Gamestop a year or so ago... do a search for your area on their site, believe me it's worth it.

probably. theres also 3rd parties that make them. thing is with the gc component cable is that it has an digital-analog conversion chip inside that probably bumps up the cost, and 3rd parties have stayed away from making their own cables for whatever reason.

i heard the pal cubes with scart cables have audio output on them as well, without having to use the regular analog output. if thats true im not sure why they didnt just do that with the component cables.

rev cables will probably be different cause the whole sound thing and all. also i have no clue whether the current port has enough pins to output dvi/hdmi (not that i expect that output...but they said itd connect to a computer display, im expecting vga).

Shinobi,

Thank you for the info!! Just ordered mine. I have been waiting for these and did not want to pay the play-asia price.

I ordered mine online back in Janurary when they were backordered and recieved them a couple of weeks ago. While I haven't actually tried them with too many games yet, they do look nice on F-Zero GX and Metroid Prime (though I wish this game would support widescreen).

Thanks man! Just got one. I was about to pay $55 for one on ebay after searching every used game store in the LA area for one with no luck.

Right now I'm using Monster S-Video, is it worthwhile to upgrade? Do many GameCube games even support 480p? This may be perfect timing as I am about to replay damn near my entire GC library over the next few months and would appreciate the bump is visual fidelity.

For reference here's what I got...
Beyond Good & Evil
Donkey Konga
F-Zero GX
Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker
Mario Golf: Toadstool Tour
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes
Metroid Prime
Metroid Prime 2: Echoes
Pikmin 2
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time
Resident Evil
Resident Evil 4
Sonic Adventure DX
Sonic Adventure 2 Battle
Spideman 2
Star Wars Rogue Squadron III: Rebel Strike
Super Mario Sunshine
Super Monkey Ball 2
Super Smash Brothers: Melee
Viewtiful Joe
Viewtiful Joe 2
WWE Wrestlemania XIX

The Nintendo Component cable is definitely worth it. Just for the difference in quality alone.

Progressive is just icing on the cake. Go for it man, you won't regret it.

It's not true, no official PAL Gamecube cable makes use of the Digital output port thingy. However the homemade RGB cable for NTSC consoles is bodged up from using the component cable and the composite cable and as such use both ports, perhaps thats what you were thinking of.

I'm hoping the Rev will not need new cables but it really wouldnt surprise me.

I think quite a few of them support 480p, not entirely sure how much of a step up it will be for 480i for the ones that don't since you use monster cables but I advise getting a component cable anyways.

Really annoyed none of the Resident Evil titles before 4 didnt have 480p output, hoping Rev will allow you to force 480p but I kind of doubt that will happen.

i think beyond good and evil has non anamorphic widescreen, like re4. not sure about the others, but most of them dont have a widescreen mode at all probably (course thats not an issue if youre using a 4:3 screen).

rev could probably output hd resolutions with gamecube games, but thats even less likely.

BG&E is NON-anamorphic widescreen, just like RE4. Sad but true.

I'm hoping against hope that Twilight Princess supports 16:9....but I'll be okay if it doesn't

I'm surprised that it is so difficult to get component cables for the GameCube.
On eBay there are many brand new component cables for PS2 and XBox -- extremely generic, third party OR Sony/MS. All over.

Eh, I think FFX looks pretty nice via the third-party component cables I'm using and with the 'cinema zoom' business on my TV adjusted.

Also, I have an extra set of GC component cables if anyone still needs a set. I'd trade straight-up for a GC Action Replay or any other decent swaps.

I try to buy the Component Cable for Gamecube, but there's not in Switzerland anymore.

"Es gibt nicht in der Schweiz diese verdammter Kabel..."

Nintendo was doing something for people who bought the model with out them and wanted componet output I dont remember if they were replacing them with refurbished models or adding in the board or what not but contact them and see

you're going to see a good increase in pq over S-Video in general (even if they are monster cables, monster cable for videogames and hell anything video related is all a name and are way over priced) but almost every game on your list is Progressive scan the only one Im not sure of is WWE Wrestlemania, and the only one that deffinetly isnt is the first Resident Evil otherwise I'm pretty sure every other title you have is

I have to agree with this, I just recently got an HDTV and going from Gamecube through Component on it to PS2 on component on it, it's such a huge difference

I really hope sony improves the PQ output with their next system
