Nintendo Switch Emulator Ryujinx's Github and Profile Have Been Deleted

Everybody who defended Nintendo's attack on YUZU on the grounds that they were doing specifically criminal activities should admit they were tools. Nintendo OPPOSES EMULATION. They don't need a reason to go after you.

People don't understand that this isn't the Wii U days anymore. Nintendo doing backwards compatibility means that every single one of their titles is a sellable asset and they will protect those tooth and claw.

Nothing about this changes legal precedent. Emulators are legal. The courts ruled that the Bleem PS1 emulator, sold as a boxed, for profit product at what is now GameStop during the active commercial life of PS1 is legal. Nothing has changed since.

Nintendo is using an army of lawyers to bully entities who can't defend themselves, and major corporate entities like GitHub and Valve voluntarily comply with them to avoid their own legal hassles. It's an injustice, and that's no exaggeration.

Isn't there a sea of emulators for various old Nintendo systems out there though?

I think the problem is that their current platform is being emulated, with their games leaking weeks in advance.

I imagine both Sony and MS would be doing the same if people were playing The Last of Us 3 or Gears of War: E-Day weeks before launch.

We've been through this during the Yuzu drama. How is Nuzu or whatever the fuck it was called doing right now? It's completely dead.

These companies are doing this because we've told them backcompat is a great idea that we can't live without, now they get to monkey claw it. Everything in life has a cost, and every company will have a day where it reveals its true face.

I agree they don't like that their current platform is being emulated, but that's their fucking problem. They put out hardware 10 years out of date, don't be surprised that it gets emulated.

Nintendo prepping for the Super Switch announcement this month. Gotta send a message to the pirates that this next generation will go different.

Yeah,sure...Hopefully this new generation they might actually hit 1080p on all their games.

Meanwhile people playing Switch at 4k60 on emulation making Nintendo look like they're playing with sticks when building their consoles lol

The only message they're sending is they are petty as shit.

We'll see how soon it take to get Switch 2 emulation up and running. It's not going to go how you think.

Yes because it's being emulated on dedicated desktop/higher end laptop hardware vs handheld mobile hardware, no shit. Anyone with half a brain understands that emulation allows you to utilize the extra hardware grunt of much more powerful equipment.

Even though I disagree with Nintendo taking down/being antagonistic towards emulation (although with this emulator it seems to be for a different reason), there's a good reason why Switch hardware was designed the way it was. For 2017 it was a great piece of mobile gaming hardware.

We'll see,and even if it doesn't I'm getting the Switch 2 anyway so it doesn't bother me but Nintendo would still be petty as shit if they do, doesn't change what I've said.

Cmon man...it was underpowered even for 2017 what are we talking about here...the damn thing has games that don't hit 1080p...

I love my switch and especially the games but lets not act like it's some impressive piece of tech...

Edit: Nevermind, looks like Nintendo gave them a deal, must have been a nice deal for them to take it.

Lol, no it wasn't. It's an old Tegra X1 from 2015.

Technically speaking it's even older. The GPU it uses was based on first edition Maxwell. The same that was used in the late GTX 700 series introduced in February of 2014. Later the second edition Switch, Switch lite and Switch OLED would use the second edition Maxwell released in 2015 for the 900 series. Only difference is the die was shrunk from 24nm to 16nm. The GPU inside of the Switch is was three years old when it released.

No, seems like Nintendo started leaning on gdkchan (creator of Ryujinx). There's an update on the Discord going over the details and what they were working on.

Yesterday, gdkchan was contacted by Nintendo and offered an agreement to stop working on the project, remove the organization and all related assets he's in control of. While awaiting confirmation on whether he would take this agreement, the organization has been removed, so I think it's safe to say what the outcome is. Rather than leave you with only panic and speculation, I decided to write this short message to give some closure.

These words are my own. I don't want to speak for anyone else here, so just remember that while reading.

Thank you to @everyone who has contributed code, documentation or issue reports to the project. Thank you all for following us throughout the development. I was able to learn a lot of really neat things about games that I love, enjoy them with renewed qualities and in unique circumstances, and I'm sure you all have experiences that are similarly special. I'm extending my own massive thanks to our moderation team, who have been here through some rough circumstances and always found ways to make light of it.

All these are good indicators that their next console is going to suck hardware wise, and will be easy to emulate. Rather than going for a more powerful, more difficult to emulate hardware, they most certainly went cheap and are suing everybody to protect their next product.

Legally they can't stop us!

"I'll give you a huge amount of cash if you fuck off"

Unfortunately, I have made the decision to cease development…

If they are going scalable with the Switch 2 hardware for backwards compatibility, I bet these emulators could probably have run the new games within a month of launch.
