Nintendo Switch Presentation - January 12th

It's not Donkey Kong

It's Diddy Kong Racing !

Nope.

You know I'm glad they announced it now, now people won't have to post "SWITCH DIRECT WHEN?" everywhere.

I think they might have gotten annoyed at the whole pre-NX reveal

One of the reasons they're announcing it this early is due to it being a three day event, not simply a video presentation.

Glad they announced a date, but a bit skeptical about the initial conference being in Tokyo.

I wonder how much of the venue are the renting because the Tokyo Big Sight is bigger than the venue used in last year's TGS.

They'll probably have some stuff besides the demo station going on given their recent events. Music, Splatoon tourney, NicoNico stream of stuff, etc.

I bet the Nintendo Switch Experience is going to be similar to the Japanese 3ds preview event they held in the fall after the 3ds was announced at E3. It was I think 1 or 2 days of 3ds demos open to the public with live music performances and stage interviews. It was a highly successful event that hyped up the 3ds before it's sad launch.

This announcement alone is more than I was expecting to get outta the Investor meeting period. A nice change from the one that announced a Zelda delay.

Our girl Emily Rogers claims that Retro isn't working on Metroid, or "Fucking Donkey Kong" for that matter.

Granted, she isn't always 100% correct (see the Female Link thing) but it's still something to consider.

Thank fucking god if this is true.

This is how I feel. The holidays will go by super quick.

Also, I like seeing the abbreviation "NS" being posted around. It really isn't much different than "NX" anyways.

I like NS, it's pretty cool. It's ONE letter away from "NES." Nintendo Entertainment Switch!

Anyway January will be here very soon. The holidays as you said always go by quickly as... well, it's the holidays. My favorite time of the year... which always just flees me. And I have the PS4 Pro, Black Friday, getting a 4K TV, and a bunch of other stuff to bide the time.

The only reason I have been impatient about "NX" is because I've just been waiting to find out what it is, what the name is, what it looks like, etc. The reveal video was enough for me to go on until next year. I got what I wanted to see and I'm fine with waiting a bit to get more details.

I also believe January 12 will be when pre-orders go live.

She's redeemed herself pretty hard with the NX announcement though. She stuck to her guns and that shit was announced on a Wednesday night.

Hopefully that means Mother 3 is there at launch for the US Switch :P

If they show a actually fully realized a mario game in the veins of Super Mario 64 I will die of happiness. That 6 sec tease doesn't count.

Also Dark Souls on a portable will be a nail in the coffin for me....

I was gonna ask why they were announcing it so early but then I noticed it's a media event. I guess people predicting a "space world" type reveal event were half right?

Wait, three day event?

How do we know that

NNintendo just followed up the announcement of January 12th presentation of the upcoming Switch with a press release from Japan including another interesting piece of info.

The console will be playable in Tokyo between January 14th and January 15th at the Tokyo Big Sight, which is the same venue in which Comiket is hosted twice a year.

Good."Typical"has led them to historically low sales. Time to make some big changes. :)

The Switch is, after all, said to be a "reboot" for Nintendo. I think we might see them finding a way to integrate the spirit of their approach to a more rapidly-evolving, modern market in a lot of ways with the Switch. What hasn't changed is that Nintendo does best when cornered.

Man sucks we have to wait until then to learn more and possibly pre-order but I can understand them wanting to let the holiday rush pass and have the floor to themselves...

Who needs E3 to promote a major platform before launch?

Not Nintendo. Not anymore.

All of these NX/Switch details are happening outside of E3 influence, including the launch of the platform itself. By the time it gets to E3, it will likely have been in stores for months already.

Not that E3 is completely irrelevant, but its relevance continues to decline-- and this is great example of it.

I'm really curious about that, actually. I wonder if it was real and Nintendo was planning on releasing it for the Wii U eshop, but then they figured that no one cares about the Wii U anymore and just delayed it for the Switch's launch.

Hm.

Exactly the date I guessed and 11 days before the famous Wii U January Direct.

I wonder if we'll see similar things announced this year that were announced that year~

January 2013 was when Nintendo announced they were bringing back Earthbound to VC, yes? Could it be.....?!

Fuck its so far away. I need to plan my schedule and they literally won't allow me too. FFS.

I'm glad they put the date out there, even if it seems forever away.
Yeah, I guess better than constant begging of a date from everyone.

After Pokemon Moon no more buys until NS. Please let it be $250.

Also rip preorders. I shouldn't expect to get this until April anywayz. I can't remember if GS would put up preorders immediatly or after the direct have an announcement of when they put up preorders. Please not the same day and give a heads up.

I guess my dream of 100% handhend comes at a price: Nintendo completely having me guess spending anymore momey lol. (And driving me insane.)
