Nintendo Wi-Fi USB Connector Adaptor - install program up for download

If only Nintendo would release an official program to download DS demos instead of having to wait for the Revolution.

Thank you. I'm getting it just in case. Don't think I'll actually neede the dongleberry for my apt, however. Can't hurt to have the software, though.

Edit - What, it's version 1.01 already?

Alright. Whoever wrote the readme could have done better. They should get the FE translation team to do it, perhaps! :)

Also, it implies that installing the software may not even be necessary? And, surprisingly, it seems to outright state that it won't work with dialup??

Lol... and the ver101.txt file is empty... completely. Weird.

I read somewhere (probably here on GAF) that the dongle will only be available directly from Nintendo!? Can anyone confirm? Hope thats not true that's the reason why I never got Component cables for my GC

Only true in the USA.

Canada FTW.

I imagine that the Nintendo World Store will carry them.

Though, perhaps not, since they don't carry the Component Cables or the individual GB Micro faceplates either...

I tried to run the setup... but it defaulted to Japanese. Woops.

Why is that surprising?

World of Warcraft can run on dialup (fairly well), but Mario Kart cannot? It just doesn't seem reasonable, though admittedly, I know nothing about coding games to function online.

What's the concensus on whether or not this will work with the PSP? It would be kinda handy to have a portable router on-the-go so to speak, and I could keep the XP program on my memory stick to install onto any PC.

Just curious... If you wanted a component cable, why would the fact that it's only available from Nintendo prevent you from getting one? I know about the backorder until January 2006, but it was available for a long time before that.

Oh, it's periodically backordered, but they've always restocked on it... even if it took 2 months to do so. Trust me. That puppy is WORTH the wait.

Everything is through WiFi which pretty much needs a broadband connection to work properly. They used to make dialup routers but they might be pretty hard to find now. It's also going to be slower then just playing a game on the PC you have your dial up connected too. They have stated from the beginning it would be broadband only. Which if I have a choice of having smooth lag free online gaming at the expense of those on dial up, well, hey sorry and all but that's the way it's got to be.

Oh and keep in mind WoW is probably designed to be dial up friendly too and they can afford to do that since you are playing on their servers. DS wifi for all intents and purposes looks peer to peer.

Understood Ponn, thank you. I didn't realize that routers require broadband. I didn't get into all this router/firewall/router nonsense until after that fateful day I dropped Earthlink 56k for Verizon DSL.

No probs. I've noticed an influx of alot of router and wifi questions since PSP and DS came out and i've been suggesting for awhile they should make a WiFi education thread to keep everything in one place.

I was one of those. I never even HEARD of wifi until the rumors of the DS and PSP using them to go online started bubbling out. Not longer after I got my DS, and a few months before getting my PSP, I "upgraded" my Linksys router to a Linksys wifi. I think I may have either posted a thread asking for help, or seconded another's thread.

Hmm, I've got some sort of broadband but need to log in every time I start my computer. Pretty sure their ain't going to be any problems.

prolly latency issue not packet size issue, u understand.

Probably DSL. I had the same issue with Verizon, until I figured out how to configure my router to invisibly log in for me, thus saving me the effort and simulating Cable's "always on" feature. At least, now that I use cable, I don't have to deal with that nonsense. Man I hated Verizon DSL...

Not DSL, it's cable.
It's got a LAN connection with the modem (which is always on), but you've also got to log in. Guess some security reason or something.

anyone own a buffalo airstation usb adapter?

If it works with this wifi reg software, then we'll know that the hardware for the two is identical or at least compatible :)

What's the pass for the press site? I can't remember it. I remember the old media/media but not the new one. At least give me first letter of u/p and i'll remember right away.
