Get an exclusive look at Nintendo's trailer hitting movie screens this weekend.
by Craig Harris

July 29, 2005 - Nintendo will launch a multi-million dollar campaign kicking off the company's focus on taking the Nintendo DS online with a film-style teaser trailer hitting movie theaters this weekend.

The theatre-only advertisement, titled "The Sad, Agonizing Tale of Bhuvan Ganguly," is a minute-long mini-movie that teases viewers with the idea of affecting people anywhere in the world from anywhere in the world. The film has been created and produced by Nintendo's longtime advertising firm Leo Burnett.

It's not bad. Might have been better if it actually included the words "online" and "free" though, I'm not sure everyone knows what wifi is.

That's what they're hoping commercial watchers will say. Like others have been saying, the words "Free" and "Online" should be thrown in there.

Maybe this is just a teaser for the theaters, when it gets closer to being implemented hopefully they'll have some TV commercials pointing out that it's free. I like the graphic of the world though, really cool.

Brilliant commercial. It should have been more informative, but I am still surprised to see them running ads for it. Good stuff.

yeah they should pimp the fact that it's free.

I didn't get that at all until the mario kart part. Still kind of doesn't make much sense. Is it trying to say that people could play from across the world? I feel a little stupid, since everybody's like "Great commercial" and I don't really get it....

It's essentially advertising online play on the DS using wi-fi. So with a wi-fi connection, you can play your DS online.

Also, IIRC, they started using that woman's voice with the DS commercials. She's starting to grate on my nerves.

I didnt like it either. Too artsy, not as informative as it should be.

Like those stupid car commercials.

Some dude in one part of the world causes something to happen in another part of the word, that can only happen if they were in the same 'place'. That 'place' is online gaming.

Since that man was in the middle of nowhere, how would he find a hotspot? :lol

Yeah. It definately could have been better if I woulda been in charge *cough*.

To sum it up, it was like:
-Guy eats banana... slowwww... slow pacing, throws it on the ground.
-Shot of a few cars, one of them skids like crazy all of a sudden, which at first seems like the driver did that on purpose.Like:
-Cue Nintendo wifi connection bla bla, bad choice of words (what is wifi? huh? etc etc)

While it should have been like:
-Guy eats banana... slowwww...
-Shot of some guy driving to work or whatever
-Guy throws banana shell on the ground.
-Guy in car goes "WTF" and skids like crazy. I'm thinking maybe this should have been a more cartoony effect.
-Some cool guy's calm voice talks about Nintendo putting the Nintendo DS online completely for free -- coming soon.

You're taking it too literally. I didn't even see the old man pull out a DS.
:lol

The ad isn't bad though.
