We've got another surprise for those enjoying the Year of the Ninja, because September's IGN First is Team Ninja's own Nioh 3. Join us all month long for exclusive reveals, new gameplay videos, interviews, impressions and more, all stemming for our trip to Koei Tecmo's office to play about five or so hours worth of the upcoming sequel. We kick things off with a boss battle featuring the The Tiger of Kai, Takeda Shingen, which you can watch above.

The one problem I have with Nioh is that you don't get your "real" build until really late into the game. Before that, you just sort through trash loot and pick whatever's the least terrible and there is A LOT of trash gear.

Very few things do I yearn for, but Nioh 3 is one of them. This is the real Ninja Gaiden right here. What it became. Best masocore game and best soulslike not from From and honestly competes strongly with their weaker entries. Gameplay is even further beyond. Flawless victory.

Not even close to Ninja Gaiden under Itagaki. It requires a lot of buff and debuff nonsense or spamming tools cause the core melee is unsatisfying and not as effective. The movement and level design are very poor in comparison.

Day #1. No doubt, the Alpha demo was great.

Weird way to show that boss fight though, no mode-switching, stance-switching or any sort of tool use. Essentially all the signature stuff.
