Introducing No Man's Sky's 17th free update: FRONTIERS. Explore procedurally generated alien settlements, learn their stories and help them develop thriving communities. Construct your own grand structures with new base parts and new building tools.

More updates? I'm honestly impressed with how this game is now. It went from a poorly released game to getting 3 games worth of content that most other companies would have sold as DLC. It's definitely a nice game that is worth the money now, if you like the whole crafting/exploration/space thing.

Cool stuff dude (y)

CD project pay attention, this is how you actually fix a game. I swear they just keep giving with NMS, i truly wonder what it will finally end up as with so much been constantly added.

My only wish is to see where the sentinels came from, i want to see the planet of their homeworld for myself. You hear mention of it in lore fragments when interacting with certain artifacts.

CDPR took 6 months to release a small batch of bug fixes for Cyberpunk, lol. They are completely lost. At the same timeframe No Man's Sky had already released 2 major updates and a bunch of bug fixes into the mix.

I got platinum trophy for Cyberpunk when it launched, after the 50h mark I just couldn't wait to get the last trophy so I could delete that trash from my PS5. I have absolutely no desire to come back to it no matter how many updates they release because the core gameplay loop is broken and boring. I don't think there is a redemption arc for them.

This expansion looks great and should make exploring planets much more interesting. It does make me wonder what else could be added to the game, or if we will ever see a sequel.

im so tempted to start a new 100+ hours game in NMS

must... resist...

Game still boring.

Im not trolling but i think the core gameplay still lacking.

Alot of planets still look identical and there is nothing happen most of the time, would be better if they include active scripting events like the ones in gta games/elder scrolls games.

Eh. If you think it's boring it's likely just not for you.

Its obvious that millions of people play and enjoy the game thoroughly as it is, and thus why they keep updating it.

I personally haven't bought the game because I know it's not for me, as much as I get excited at every update and amazed with how the game has expanded.

But deep down, I know. If I buy it, I'll likely play it for a few hours and drop it lmao.

Ehh, Cyberpunk 2077 is still the superior game.

Time to start over, again, this looks like yet another missing piece of the puzzle to make the Game of the Forever!
This is not even their 4.0 update lol, this is a big update, but the cool part is that they said it is actually the foundation for future updates to come which is exciting as a user as well as a developer on NMS I imagine (not only you driver cool new features, but also update your tech platform to support newer updates).

Remember the backlash this game got during launch and also how people speculated the dev team went m.i.a after release?

Props to them for continuously supporting a game with such low player count.

That's cool, the single research buildings and such here and there were always pretty lame, and never felt unique or "real".

This music still puts tears in my eyes. These guys are doing an amazing job with these updates.

Keep up the good work!
I know what you mean, i also have tears in my eyes everytime i think of this No Man Sky music:

I mean tears of laughter are still tears.

here i go making a new save again
This is exactly the problem that I have every time they release one of these large scale updates. I always want to start again at the beginning just to too see how it all feels with the updates but a few hours in I realise how slowly it's going so I get distracted by another game....and then the next arrives and we start again.
The sad thing is that I'd had spent a stupid amount of hours playing this when it first came out and loved it but it's clearly a much better game now. I just need need to stick with one save and put a good few hours in with it.

They weren't discouraged after all the criticisms they received, they work hard and constantly listened to the feedback from the community, chapeau to Hello Games, I had taken a break but it is time to go back to space.

It's actually insane that they are still putting out major free updates like this. The game is over 5 years old now. Huge respect to them.

What I'm thinking is how the hell are Hello Games funding this? They are a small studio (26 people apparently) and I know they put out a game last year but it's no where near NMS. Are they really getting by on sales of NMS? Again it's 5 years old so I'd think that by now anyone who wants to buy it has already got it.

Have they said anything about putting out paid DLC? I don't play the game anymore but holy shit I would buy it just to throw them some money (already bought the game on PS4/PC) cause the support they've gave NMS really deserves rewarding. More studios could learn from them.

I really wonder how long they are gonna keep supporting the game. If they are gonna keep working on it then it has to run on a PS4 so surely they are about to hit a wall in terms of what they can do with the game. Maybe they will announce end of support for last gen and going forward PS5 will be the base platform. Or maybe they are working on a sequel! Imagine what they could do with No Man's Sky 2.

Damn. I keep bailing because I get adhd-like symptoms from the inventory management - Yet every time Hello updates, I download and install.. I guess I will start play this game yet again (I have like 120 hours in the PC version). Hello is keeping up doing good.

Pretty much all that comes to mind when I hear about this game. Was never interested in it cuz its concept always seemed boring but the way Murray got people really believing in the game before releasing it up until the state it released in is still hilarious.

Conservative estimates put the game at $100m in pure profit. For that money you can run a 26 people studio for a loooong time.

Maybe it is time for me to finally test this game. I tried Elite Dangerous and while there's a good game there, travelling through the empty space over and over is slightly boring.

Not done with it though, want to play some more.

Can you leave a solar system without warping to another and fly between them (eben if it would take forever) as was promised when the game came out?

No , the sun is fake , its only a background . The planets in the system don't move either .

The planet from space is fake too . When you load the planet it look complete different vs how it look from space.

Why would you want that? Have you got too much free time?

Hah not at all, I was asking from a mechanical standpoint and wondered how much they're still faking compared to what was promised.

I finished the game once when it came out, was pretty pissed off. Tried starting it again after a couple of patches but it still felt like they were using the same magic tricks only with more crap in it.

All I can say is they've added a lot of things that were promised.
Left out some things that may get added at a later date and mostly deviated and given us content we didn't know we wanted to be in this game.

This is kind of how my experience has gone. I hate that you have to go through the story to get those recipes although I guess you can get around those bottlenecks by just buying shit, right?

Speaking of which, how do you guys make money quickly nowadays?

Yeah I've started over so many times. I don't play to reach an ending anymore though, for me it's Minecraft in space, I play to build cool bases and farms and explore to find cool planets and creatures. But they could definitely speed up the process of unlocking building blocks and tech though. They should add the choice to get a starting box of some sort with some stuff you normally have to grind to get access to, the start is way too slow.

Makes me wonder how many active users this game even has at this point and if they've even made money out of it.

I saw the economics somewhere long ago, they've made a gazillion from this game, and each update trailer is like an ad campaign and bring in new people.
Steam stats right now:

Look, i love all the hard work they put into this...

But can you fucking stop using the same music every trailers and the claim that every atoms are procedural? Who the fuck even believes that shit?
