No Man's Sky launches on Nintendo Switch on October 7

They have improved upon or upgraded nearly every complaint you just listed.

There are plenty of varied worlds within the game but you will definitely need to visit multiple different star systems to see them all.

They've added new story/narrative based missions (it's still not Mass Effect keep in mind). These include bounty hunting, smuggling missions, exploring random derelict ships (horror), and all out Space Battles to partake in to name a few. I ended up helping a losing side and was awarded one of their Space frieghters for assisting.

They've implemented FRS software to enhance the visuals, along with the new 5.0 update which adds significant new graphical details and visuals features (wind, weather, cloud and water effects)

They've added new species of flora and fauna in the new 5.0 update. There's also underwater bases building, multiple land based vehicles, including Mechs to craft and new Ship designs including a solar sail based ship.

So yeah, They've added a ton of new graphical updates, content and features since the initial Switch launch.

Sold! Here’s hoping the missing features are rolled out with Switch2.

It's funny how starfield missed out on everything gamers wanted from such a genre: to be totally free and move from planet to planet without transition. NMS may still have quite a few problems, on top of being released in 2016 completely unplayable and having lied, but what a lift in esteem after all these years!

Starfield also lacks a distinct visual identity, as well as being boring overall. We'll see if they manage to turn the tide like NMS, but I doubt it: Bethesda has already moved on. They're going to release a big DLC like any other license, and then hop, next game.

NMS wasn't unplayable at all in 2016, lol. It was just missing some stuff they had said or at least hinted would be there. But yeah, now the game is much more than they ever promised.

Just make sure to play in Normal mode but customize the crafting/resource and survival settings to very low or even "off" if you want to focus purely on exploration, upgrading and building.

The game can become very tedious due to certain survival elements and needs for resources and fuel/health management.

Well, let's just say that compared to the initial promise, we were a long way off. And to think that it had been presented at the Colbert Show... expectations were really high.

But then, everything changed with the multiple updates and it's now completely playable and enjoyable on all platforms.

Nevertheless, at this stage, I'd like them to stop making updates and get straight to work on a sequel with a bit more ambition... I know, it's not possible, there'll be “Light No Fire” first.

A sequel to No Man's Sky would be like a sequel to Minecraft. There's no point when everything is procedurally generated.

So this is how NMS is staying in business. Add a bunch of cool new features, and updates then release it on different systems at different times. Its like skyrim only this game actually gets more than 2 expansions.

I bought this originally on ps4, so I have it on ps5 too.
Bought it on pc, so have it on Steam Deck too.
And after the sale the last few days for $23.00 (20.00 after eshop coin discount) I have it now on the switch.
Why buy it 3 times? Because like skyrim its just a great game and fun to play. Unlike skyrim, NMS is from a small indie team that isn't charging for updates. They deserve some respect and support for that. Still don't see how they can keep going not charging for anything but the base game. I just goes to show you that other devs could offer stuff for free too and get more sales that way, they just dont, or bean counters step in.

Now for the switch version, I am blown away at how good it is. Was expecting to find a jagged blurry mess at 378p like Xenoblade2, nope, it looks native or at least close to it.
Yeah draw distance is lower , but that is to be expected, it isn't that noticable. Vegitation sometimes looks more flat like its on ps3, but not a deal breaker.
Only thing i found off so far is when mining crystals it gives a blue or red square during the explosion, like its missing 1 frame of the animation. I can look past it but hopefully they fix it.
Thing is unlock diablo 2 on switch I have faith in Hello games, Blizzard still hasnt' fixed the no yellow or red hair bug in 3 years now.

I do wish there was cross save, so I could switch between systems.
Otherwise it plays great on switch, so far, and its a lighter in my hands than steam deck.
