Heh, on TCM not too long ago they had a show about Scorsese and his films... and showed several clips of GoodFellas... completely unedited. Joe Pesci and Robert Deniro were a storm of "fuck"s. :)

Even better, several months back I noticed that the public access channel was showing visual ads while a speaker read something(they do this a lot it seems).. except at the time it was a woman describing the ins and outs of stripping, with no editing or holding back on language.

Could someone please tell me what the fuck this is about?

I know Jon Stewart's been getting away with some stuff lately, at least on the late-night showings of The Daily Show. Its nothing too extreme, but definitely more than your average censor would allow.

Nerevar

they call me "Man Gravy".

system of a down was on Saturday night live. I'm guessing the singer screamed out "fuck" in the middle of the song.

Not like it matters. Given the quality of SNL, I doubt anyone was watching to write a complaint anyway :lol

Well, cable isn't regulated. Comedy Central doesn't have to bleep a damned thing, nor censor content. You can't compare what CC does and what the major networks are legally required to restrict.

Yup, which is why they show South Park: Bigger Longer and Uncut completely uncensored on CC :)

Yeah, it's kind of strange how they censored all the other 'fucks', but then when he screamed, they left it.

Were they not anticipating it?

:p

This poster pulses with an appeal so broad the typical restraints of our societies fall by the wayside.

Which is how they're able to use the word shit 162 times in a South Park episode. Although you still won't see much really extreme stuff on cable, because even though it's not regulated, it's still meant to be acceptable to the "reasonable man".

Now CC has that Secret Stash every Saturday night where they show stuff uncensored. That's an example of what they can get away with.

Heh, you guys would die if you saw how open TV is up here...seeing the giddyness in this thread over "shit" being spoken on cable TV looks kinda embarassing. :lol

Cable channels don't have to censor themselves, but they do so willingly for advertisers.

SNL is open air though... so I wouldn't be suprised if the FCC burst out sobbing and said "Why do you make me hurt you?"

i used to watch CBC when i was in Detroit. i remember hearing somebody call a woman a "fucking cunt", with "cunt" being the word that caught my attention.

On the CBC note, why is it that we don't have shows like Street Smarts here in the US? While some of their bits were pretty assinine, many were very informative and talked to kids and teens about issues that really affected them. And the blonde guy's spinoff show was pretty interesting too though a bit too juvenile for me at the time. i'm surprised there wasn't a similar show to either on public tv at least, again which frankly speaks to those who are dealing with the issues, instead of leaving it to shows like Oprah with "OMG YOUR 13-YEAR OLD DAUGHTER IS SUCKING DICK TO BE COOL IN THIS NEW CRAZE! WATCH THIS OPRAH WITH YOUR TEEN!"

Still? i thought they added a delay after Martin Lawrence's appearance.

...and that, kids, was the first time I sucked a dick for crack
I also always thought SNL had a tape delay. Apparently not.

Now, pelase...someone, find a video. =(

Yeah, that's where SNL is fucked...I thought pretty much all these live shows on the US networks got a small delay after Nipgate. Then again I thought virtually all live shows had 7 second beforehand, which to me is the only smart way to go. So either SNL didn't and will pay the price for it, or they do and someone simply fell asleep at the switch, so he and the network will pay the price. Either way, someone's paying.

I think all the FCC folks are out drinking to mourn the passing of the broadcast flag they tried to mandate to placate broadcasters.

I only heard the Toxicity album, and liked it. My friend was a big SOAD fan. How's the new album, and how was their performance last night? PEACE.

it was censored (obviously) on the west coast feed. Didn't they say fuck a lot more times than just that one time Daron yelled it though? It sounded like there were a lot more bleeps than just the one. And on that note, wtf were SOAD doing performing Arials any damn way when they got a new album full of material coming out later this month?

Which is normally completely uncensored, but they fucking edited some of Pryor and Murphy >:|

It's more because of the sponsors.

I saw this last night, it was funny. The downside was that I had to watch SNL and listen to System of a Down; both were horrible.
