NoA Company Store

Looking for Pants
I'm currently sitting in my office at Microsoft and a coworker and I would like to hit the Nintendo of America Public Store sometime after lunch. However, we've both been around the headquarters and have no idea where it is.

Surely someone here has been to the store. Think you could help me out with some directions?

Sure.

You head to their main building (Where the Nintendo white sign is), and basically walk in to talk to the receptionist; she'll either tell you to get lost, or, have someone escort you up the stairs to the RIGHT of the desk, you'll go through this crazy history-of-nintendo world, and you'll see the WORLD OF NINTENDO Staff store at the back of this big room to the left.

There ya go.

I did when I was like 11 or 12. I didn't go to the store (don't think it existed then) but I did go to the front desk and they showed me around and let me play this super nifty thing that had just wasn't even available in Japan: the Super Famicom. It had all these milti-colored buttons and a Mario game where you could fly with a CAPE!

Sounds kinda silly now but as a kid that was insanely cool.

A friend and I somehow got to do something similar to that prior to the SNES launch at the Redmond building, but I don't remember a store being there.

What makes the NOA Company Store so special? Exclusive stuff?

Just give one of the loser digipen interns playing hackysack outside 10 bucks, or wave a hotdog from that 7-11 under thier nose, they'll take you up.

employees buy enough nintendo games that they can afford to run a store there? And employ workers for the store?

Yes, the discount is pretty nice (at least, it is now) and there are certain items that you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else.

Yeah, it is neat in there (I don't need to tell you though heh). That whole part of the building is pretty cool. All the old hardware outside and the neat art on the glass. It makes me tingly where I pee just thinking about it. =P

err, the public store is actually on the left side of the complex down the street that runs along side Nintendo/Digipen. It will be on your left-hand side. This is the place you can go if you're looking for things like Shirts, mugs, component GCN cables, etc.

Oh, was i not supposed to talk about the upstairs store? lol oops.

Yeah, when I was there, you could get Perfect Dark (N64) still sealed for $1.

Think you could show me that on Google Maps, because 51st runs alongside Nintendo/Digipen as does 150th.

DigiPen students used to get access whenever they wanted.
My freshman year we went once a week in a group of 6 or so kids with one office staff.
Then all of a sudden an email was sent and we weren't allowed to go anymore.
Someone wandered off into the rest of the building where they weren't supposed to be.

Of course that doesn't stop the new kids each year. During the DS launch, they gathered in groups and totally just bugged the shit out of the desk staff saying they were allowed to go up or they bothered employees that left or entered the building to get it for them.
Seriously, this is why we can't have nice things.

Employee store: Fun & Games
Public store: Nintendo Service Center

Barb's been at the Service center for god knows how many years. But she does keep some rare things there, like component cables.

Edit:

The service center is on 150th Ave between DigiPen/NST and NOA. Turn left onto it and go down until you see it curve RIGHT. There'll be a sign about a hidden driveway. Turn LEFT into it.

I was just at NoA for the first time in my life a few weeks ago to get my DS replaced. Ended up going to the service counter for the replacement, and it was somewhat neat. Like all the old hardware on display, and some other random tshirts and goodies. I would have gotten a DS golf shirt if they had'em in large D:

Speaking of N64 controllers, if anybody wants to get rid of there's I'll take 'em.
Specifically these ones:

(I can't find them anymore. My mom wants to get them back somehow.)

it is all coming back to me!
I also bought this... official N64 cart storage thing... I need to take pics...

You can also buy Gamecube digital component cable there (yes I know it is not digital, I am just distinguishing between ports)

:lol :lol

I'll ask my buddy at NST to stand outside with a hacky sack, but I have a feeling he'll only do for a chance to visit and purchase from the Microsoft one.
