Noob needs help with Mortal Kombat II.

I've played some of the older MK games but never really got into them, but after unlocking MKII in MK:SM I've decided I want to try to get good at them. However, I am having trouble pulling off some simple Fatalitys for some reason, like Kung Laos F, F, LK move, despite doing it several times and very close, far away, and just alittle bit away never seems to work. Anyone have any tips that can help me?

Also, is there any pre-MK:DA game that is THE BEST version?

I'm pretty sure that fatality is F, F, F, F + LK and its from sweep distance away. Try holding block while pressing forward.

It's forward 3 times really quick, and holding block really helps. It's actually a bit closer than sweeping distance. Try just 2 steps back.

(fires up MK2 to check)

EDIT - nevermind it's pretty much sweep range.

Get to where you're just at the distance where a sweep would hit them. Hold block and tap FFF. Release and hit LK. It's one of the best fatalities in the whole series.

You can hold block for any fatality as long as you release it to hit the final button. The exception is if up is part of the motion, then you can hold block for the entire thing.
