I have to say that I am not a religious person, but I was moved by this movie. I can't describe what I fell right now. I don't believe any movie has made me felt this way. It made me think about myself, not on a religious feeling, but on a human feeling. It made me think about my life. About how selfish I have been. I can't believe one man went through all of that not because he wanted to, but because he knew this was his destiny. I really, right now, can't describe the effect this movie has had on me, but know that it will make me a better person.

That's good. Though the movie played it down a lot, it was worse.

Are you gonna start going to church now? Don't forget to put your load of cash in the basket when it's passed to you.

Cheyenne: "Sons of bitches. He's right."

He said it didn't effect him religiously, so I'd say no.
His reply didn't have anything to do with the original post. He just had to get in his negative comment to preserve his perfect record. ;)

You want to feel sorry for someone...watch Touching the Void. What happens to poor Jon Simpson is terrible and at the end of it you'll feel like you should be able to do anything.

This movie was like an antisemetic snuff film... horrible.
:lol

I wish more people would go watch The Last Temptation of Christ. That's one great movie right there but everybody hates it. Atheists because its a religious movie, Christians because it depicts Jesus as human. But god damn it its the best movie about Jesus ever made!

It really is a film everyone should see once. 95% of the people who bash it and claim it's anti-semitic or too violent, whatever, have never seen it. Their loss.

I'd say that 100% of the people who say it's anti-semetic have never seen it.

If anything, the crying foul of "Anti-semetic! Anti-semetic!" from Jewish people is making me anti-semetic. Please.

Uh yes, some of the Jews are portrayed negatively. Believe it or not there were bad Jews back then, just like their are bad types of all people. But at the same time, all of the people crying for Jesus and the people who defend Jesus were Jews as well. Why does everyone ignore that?

Because you don't really see it in the movie. We do see a Jew helping Jesus to the mount but he does so unwillingly.

Don't plan on going out of my way to see The Passion, but +1 Last Temptation of Christ. A pity, but I couldn't make it through the book. Plotting my ass down in front of a television for a few hours is easier than commiting myself to a Big Thick Book on a subject I'm not totally infatuated by.

EDIT: And as far as disturbing executions and punishments go, I point thee in the direction of THE FRENCH . Back in the day they made GWB look tame.

Because I don't know Russian?

Plus wasn't that the Soviet symbol? And East Germans were commies too.

You're a liar. There are MANY people crying as he walks along the way. I guess people who want to see anti-semitism ignore that though.

Okay, it just seemed you were doing a Hitler/Nazi parody schtick there, which struck me as rather out of place.

Real crying or tears of joy? See? This movie leaves stuff open for interpretation and that's why it's so bad and dangerous. With all these lunatics in the world with a vendetta against Jews, you can't allow stuff like this to be made.

I believe this. People say the movie was over the top and there was way too much violence and Jesus couldn't possibly have endured that. The truth is, it was far worse than what Gibson put to film.

Uh, it's quite obvious they are sobbing in sadness and not "joy". Maybe you should try actually watching the movie.

No thanks. When people start saying stuff like "it's a film EVERYONE SHOULD SEE once", warning bells start ringing. Because it means that to some people, it's an Important Film that supports their belief system (religious or not). And I HATE being proselytized.

Wow dude, you're really cool. I think I want to be like you. What should I do to make this dream of mine a reality?

Sarcasm noted. Hey, it's my prerogative. If you feel the film is important and shows more than any other Passion play or movie what really happened, more power to you. Just don't expect me to listen to you, or to care, when you tell me it'll change my life.

It's a MOVIE, not a documentary.

I haven't watched the movie because...

1. I would be a hypocrite
2. It looked cheesy anyway
3. I don't want to fund the anti Semitic agenda

I've seen great religious movies before (The Mission) but I could tell this was a stinker when the previews hit. Maybe it will be on network TV one day (censored I bet) and then I will watch it. It's hard to me to really have an argument here but it's not impossible.

I saw the movie. it was very bloody. it was powerful yes, but flawed. well of course it was flawed, as all movies are, more or less.

i'm not getting the DVD. the price of the movie ticket is all the support i'm giving.
