NPD January 2013 Sales Results [Up7: Wii U 57K (CNET), Vita ~35K, PS3 201K]

Uhh that Wii U number would be very solid, if true.

Wow.

Well, at least the WiiU seems to be succeeding somewhat in NA if the numbers are true. Probably doesn't make up for Europe and Japans bomba numbers, but still

I want to see 3DS and Vita numbers

Correction to previous tweets: CUMULATIVE three-month Wii U sales are down 38% vs. Wii's first three months on the market. Apologies!

Doesn't that tweet mean the Jan 13 Wii-U sales are 38% of Jan 13 Wii sales?

Edit: Aaah, cumulative. Most ambiguous tweet of the year award.

Well it's in the OP with the note they may have meant revenue, but until proven otherwise I'm going with this.

Even if its revenue, I feel like the number would still be higher than the consensus.

It means that Wi U did quite well, PS3 sold 244k in its first January over 4 weeks.
Also Microsoft is NOT including Wii U in their number.
Current systems must be the usual 360,Wii,PS3.

I had to ask because, it didn't seem right! At least according to all the predictions and muttering that was going on. Thanks for clearing that up! That's impressive!

Edit: heh

Why would Microsoft specify "current gen" unless they were indeed not counting the Wii U? It sounds better to say "all console sales" because that is what it would be.

Edit: posted that before the correction. Journalism at its finest.

Makes even less sense.

That means 50k.

Iwata would have resigned 2 hours ago if that were true.

That was one hell of a weird statement to make Gamasutra, christ.

Cumulative 3-month sales would make January...55k? That sounds pretty far off in the other direction. But...who knows? The Wii U has been doing worse than Gamecube so far, and the Gamecube's 3rd month, 1st January, was 59k.
