NPD Sales Results for April 2010

Those hardware numbers are much lower than I expected, I thought the PS3 shortages were over lulz

Anyway, GOW3 did decently on its second month I guess, compared to Uncharted 2 which disappeared from the top 20 in last November. :P

p.s. NPD sucks major dick

Total industry sales were down 26% to $766.2 million,
while software fell 22% to $398.5 million
and hardware declined a whopping 37% to $249.3 million.
Accessories were also down 9% to $118.4 million.

As a result, year-to-date (through April) the U.S. industry is down 11%.

As I stated in the other thread shit economy is still shit. So much for the upside this year.

According to NPD:
  • Top 5 with units only now
  • PS2 not reported (certainly still tracked)

Blames the Chartz.

Oh yea and that PSP number doesn't even seem real. WOW.

Awesome job NPD, because those extra 5 games with numbers were just killing your subscription base.

Assholes.

Was FF and God of War really that huge to push March sales? I mean March has super ball'n numbers compared to this. WTF happened?

Wonder how the numbers will change leading up to and after E3...

PSP... This better be it's last year.... Even the DS' successor is being planned and it's doing leagues better. I think it's time to put it to rest, so SO many improvements can be made with the PSP2.

Hardware's dead.
PSP's dead.
EviLore's dead.
MHTri's dead.
NPD providing any relevant sales data's dead.

Everything's dead.

You know what this means... ZOMBIES!!! :D

Peace Walker, KH:BBS and GoW are fucked.

SE Games sell well on PSP - but yeah those other games are pretty much dead on arrival.

No Monster Hunter Tri?

How did the PSP and Ps2 versions do?

Wii owners not buying any 3rd party games again. smh

I still don't get why Nintendo DS games outside of some Nintendo ones aren't advertised. The install base is massive yet publishers don't let these people know about their games. So they tend to stick with the Mario titles they know and trust and slowly once in a while try other DS titles.

Does this finally put to rest the tight supply excuse thats been going on all year? Conviction at almost half a million pleases me. Such a great game.

Wii owners don't buy franchises no one bought previously. Besides that the previous iterations sold less than 100k and they are hardcore rpg.

Well...everyone did better than last April.

Except Nintendo and PSP.

So that's something...right?

*crickets*

I'm willing to bet that May sees a significant sales boost due to stronger software releases. The only games in April I bought were a couple of downloadable games, and in May there are already four games I'm interested in buying, at least.

The lack of Monster Hunter Tri on the top charts is FAILURE despite being released on the 20th.

It will be unforgivable if it doesn't appear next month.

Wii owners, what the hell is wrong with you ?

Capcom's marketing of the game was simply massive.

Dear NPD/dreilly:

I hope you know that the less numbers you give, the more credibility you bestow on certain websites that also post their own numbers.

Holy cow at the PSP numbers. How does Sony except to turn a profit on PSP-2? :lol :lol

I'm going to guess "by making probably damn near $100 on every unit sold." Something about this month's PSP numbers points to that. :lol

I'm already betting on great SW sales, but no so much on the HW save maybe Wii.

Glad SSF4 sold like shit.

SHould have at LEAST had the option for a DLC add-on.

Hopefully poor sales will force Capcom to release a 1600 point 1 or 2GB DLC. I'd buy that straight away, but I just couldn't bring myself to buy SSF4.

And go Splinter Cell. Great fucking game.
