That 60% likely includes digital only games. It doesn't really tell us anything.
Of course it does. Kz or Tearaway didn't sell 60 more digitally. Or I assume not unless the digital numbers are skewing further and further. The point is that Sony sells more software on its store. Which means no shipping/retail cut for first party games and that they get what the retail cut would be for third party games.
This is why the vita makes money with a small user base. The attach rate is over 9-1, and yes I'm certain that includes cheap games, but Sony is getting a cut of all of it and a much bigger cut of the digital stuff.
I would not be shocked to see it go full digital in NA in 2014 and they stock/sell it like a tablet basically. EU is less likely as im sure they still go more physical because digital prices are insane. And in Japan the vita is ok.
I think this March will be the last hurrah for the vita in the West. I'm guessing the 2000 with a price drop comes out, vita tv (maybe?). FFx and minecraft are already slated for March and rumor is that borderlands may be also. I also assume the bigger memory card will come out which will hopefully bump each size down a price slot making *some* of them reasonably priced. When it still doesn't pick up steam in the West I think that's when it goes digital only and everything is either indie or Japanese.
