NPD Sales Results for February 2015 [Nintendo Numbers, Majora's, MH4, ~XB1]

So happy for Nintendo. It's a well deserved win on their end! :)

Feel a little bad about The Order. I feel like it's a title that will continue to sell as time goes on, though - at a discounted price. People will want to play through it sooner or later, as it's a short but quality experience if it suits you at all.

Your just complaining you don't have a breakdown of sales. Either way its a good result for Nintendo and the 3DS. If the New was a middling or even poor success then it really doesn't hit much in terms of the 3DS life cycle. Its a single platform not a family of platforms.

If you can not understand that then that's on yourself.

If the older models are priced a lot lower than the N3DSXL, then they would be making far less money than their family number indicates.

We do not know if it's a good thing or a bad thing without the breakdown.

It's good for SW sales, that's it.

Looking forward to you complaining about PS4 slim sales counting with original PS4 sales.

Sony does a good job discontinuing SKUs once the new one is out.

Why are strippers at the U.N. bad when they're great at strip clubs???
Hopefully we get Kirby numbers; I'm hoping it did more than 50k, but preparing for the worst ;.;

what else are millions of PS4 owners going to buy if not Bloodborne?

I am not buying it for myself but from the overall hype it seems it should at least sell twice as much as The Order

if by hype you mean GAF hype. It looks awesome but a hardcore gothic souls RPG is not in the same stratosphere as a TPS.

I don't see it doing near 2x The Order. Unless it just gets a crazy explosion of interest. If I were to guess, I would go with between 200k - 300k for Bloodborne in March NPD. That's the exact same prediction I gave for The Order which, appears to be right on the mark.

LT though, I think Bloodborne will outsell The Order though since I think it will actually have legs.

As for your question of what PS4 owners will be buying, Battlefield Hardline of course.

I could see Bloodborne selling very well over the long term and maybe even surprising some people out the gate. But yeah 500k is asking a bit too much.

It could appeal to a wider range of people by dropping the Medievil fantasy material and going for very stylish gothic look and setting.

And I've sold about 15 copies myself at work by just showing people the weapons in this game and pointing to some videos. So it does have wider appeal.

Core Souls fans will buy it. People are going to get a Ps4 for it. And the style and flare of the game will make it appeal to a wider audience while still keeping that Souls staple difficulty and design.

We'll see. Can only hope for the best. Miyazaki deserves those profits

How much people buy games digital vs retail? I mean NPD doesn't count digital games and people buy digital now more than ever. At some point in the future NPD will not be reliable..

Sony publishes digital charts so you can get somewhat of an idea of how well a game is doing. I would say NPD is still a fairly accurate measuring stick.

500k is too high for too high for Bloodborne. I really doubt that it would outsell Battlefield Hardline as well.

I don't know why the chart position is that important. Those sales would be the best first month new IP sales for Sony since...

...SOCOM?

Zelda:Majora’s Mask beating Evolve is very surprising. Numbers does look low for a title like The Order 1886.

290k and faster selling Monster Hunter is very good to see.

But Bloodborne *is* a lot more gothic horror than mediaeval fantasy. The promo material so far has been pretty full on horrific, and that launch trailer seems to lean even more heavily in that direction than previous ones.

500k seems high-ish, but its definitely possible if it resonates in any way with the mass-market. The hardcore contingent I'd suspect will get it at least half-way to that goal by itself.

Eh, I'll be surprised if Sony considers The Order a big success.

Its possible, and I'm not saying it won't get a sequel but idk. I think the thing that hurts more is that it isn't going to keep selling in large amounts. The game is front loaded as all hell.

Its actual debut is right in line with what I was expecting, and to be honest without going into any detail is a little bit better than what the company projected. But its slowed in sales so much and reviews were tepid at best.

I really don't know whether or not we get a sequel. It is possible of course though.

Shogun, all things said and done, how was the response to the PS4 trade-in deal last month?

Kinda surprised by dbz xenoverse. Crazy numbers for something released in the last week of Feb. Might have taken MM if it was released earlier.

Almost 100K for the Wii U? That's pretty good! Slowly but surely, Nintendo.

Yeah Wii U about a 12k increase from February 2014: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=784224

That was with a weak first 2 months as well, Kirby for Wii U is no DKCTF like they had last year but still managed to increase sales. Amiibo, Smash and MK8 doing the leg stuff for the Wii U.

LOL at so many people upset about Nintendo doing well this month.....

Less than 100k for the Wii-U? Ouch. I guess all we can expect is some spikes when big games come out and then back to flat-lining with a heartbeat once in awhile. That's what happens when people are only interested in games they can't buy on anything else.

well GAF circle jerk hype for this game makes it hard for me to judge
it is not my kind of game so I've only based my feelings from gametrailers IGN giantbomb EDGE previews

it seems like a big exclusive for the platform but you guys are calling for US Monster Hunter numbers 290-300k?

Let's see...Majora's Mask, the one Zelda game that many people wanted gets remade + a new revision of the 3DS?

Yeeeeeeeep these numbers look right :p

Meanwhile Minecraft and those everlasting legs...also nice to see Dying Light doing well.

Good news for Zelda! =D

One question: does NPD counts digital sales? Like, Zelda is 1st with 515k copies (retail + digital) ou only with digital?

Wait...are people really trying to suggest Bloodborne isn't going to sell well? I mean, it's not gonna be COD launch sales, but come on. lol

It's in the OP

The Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 3D was the top-selling title for the month with more than 515,000 combined physical and digital units sold. The game is now the fastest-selling Legend of Zelda hand-held title in U.S. history.

It did. So much potential So much let down. It's rare for a game that you can just tell lots of love have been put in to but end up being a failure.

Failure for YOU, perhaps. In my world, I got exactly what I wanted out of it. Sales #s mean diddly, in that regard, especially since I doubt Sony/RAD are through with it.

As far as a, "failure", for Sony - well, I'm someone who can judge that.
