Considering consumer response, and the PS4's comparative much higher price all month, this is insane. That means it takes that sort of price and deals to just BARELY best PS4. That's...wow.

I don't know what else Microsoft can possibly do then. They went as balls deep as they could.

They had the games in Sunset Overdrive and even pushed up Master Chief Collection for the holiday season despite its obvious technical problems. Comparatively, what does Sony have? Not much of interest on the AAA front, though if you aren't playing Binding of Isaac right now I have lost all respect for you.

Microsoft brought an extremely competitive price point along with pack in games. Again, Sony almost isn't even trying. They opted to keep the standard price point and some pack in games.

What does Microsoft even do going forward? Sony had a weak 2014, but 2015 is looking increasingly strong, even more so after the PSX.

It would really, really have been amazing if they HADN'T won with all the crazy bundle deals and sales on XB1 during november, and Sony really didn't have anything but third party this holiday.

This is still kinda disappointing for Wii U hardware wise? Last year Nov. Super Mario 3D World was released but I was expecting this year with all the exclusives build up and Smash to boot to do better than only 10% up yoy.

That 90% figure is for software. Wii U hardware increased 10% over November 2013. That would put it at 240k.

Well as much as I wanted the information from my friends back home to be an accurate reflection of the market as a whole, it was unarguably the safe bet to have MS on top this NPD. Discounting your console $75 below competition and bundling two games with $50 in store credit values the console at around $200. If they didn't see a win from that they would be been up the infamous creek without a paddle. But for now they are safe.

That said I doubt the sales difference between consoles is as cast as many are making it out to bein betting it's less than or equal to 200k.

The real question at this point is will MS continue with these discounts in January or will they eliminate the bundled games or bump the price back up? If they do sales are sure to drop like a rock.

With the sales differential being that low with those heavy discounts they stand basically zero chance of making up any ground towards the existing sales gap. Wii U HW sales are disappointing. I was right that it wouldn't change much, but still gave them the benefit of the doubt that they would achieve 300k. It's sad but hey, profitability must be more important for them - can't blame em.

For me personally it's more of a disappointment. If I'm totally honest I would love to see the Vita win it with the 3DS being a close second...But on to the fact that it was that "small" difference according to our errant friend...I just hope it was worth it.
Not that I would mind if Xbox went away. Not at all just that a great deal of people would probably follow the exit from the console market(crazy people) and that is a bad thing :/
