Some minor hyperbole I admit, I'm just really damned shocked. Was honestly expecting it to be close, but 100k-200k close, not under 10k.

MS basically slit their own throats to sell as much as possible in November. They flooded the market, made brilliant bundles, went all in on ads, Black Friday deals and tie ins, and they barely, barely more than draw.

It's a win in name only, and nothing they can possibly build off without just loosing more money. It's insane.

I just did not see that coming!

Even with that being the case, ORAS came out during November which is Christmas shopping month compared to March for HGSS

It also means a hell of a lot more competition and the proximity to Christmas could also mean delayed sales for the ones that are intended as gifts to children. Hard to say how many units the release month was responsible for adding/taking away.

Does someone have all the numbers from last year? Were 360+PS3 > 23% in sales and dropped 100% this year (that would have to be true if the PS4 basically sold the same as XB1 as claimed so far)? Or does overall drop in hardware sales include something else?

Seriously, GTA at number 2 baffles me.

GTA's brand awareness is one of the strongest in the entire industry. Despite being just over a year removed from the 360/PS3 versions, Rockstar still marketed it like it was an event, and got the sales to prove it.
