I'm surprised by the 3DS, its numbers are not amazing, but good enough given the circumstances (i.e. post iOS and android). 3DS will not reach the DS' numbers, but it will probably get closed, or even pass, the PSP's number.

LET'S FILL IN THE TOP 10 GAPS, SHALL WE!!?!?
Confirmed slightly below 20k.Last checked this thread about 500 posts ago. Did we get any further info about how Wonderful 101 did beyond not making it to the top 50?
I honestly don't know what you were expecting.Wii U couldn't break 100K after a price drop and with a bundle.
I said back after July or August that I expect Nintendo to probably settle in around 10-12K per week in October, and I'm sticking to that.
Confirmed slightly below 20k.
HELLO EVERYONE!
I am Aquamarine, and I know nothing. An innocent bystander, a harmless NeoGAF forum-goer.
But wait...
MY 360 estimate in OP? WRONG. DON'T LISTEN TO ME.
Listen to Cream.

And listen to CosmicQueso. CosmicQueso = GOD

So is it confirmed that Rayman Legends sold 3rd best on Wii U, behind 360 & PS3?
Believe it or not, it sold best on WiiU.So is it confirmed that Rayman Legends sold 3rd best on Wii U, behind 360 & PS3?
That Wii U owners have not rallied behind any particular titles suggests a few things:
- weak online community so there is minimal WoM selling any title past launch
- owned primarily as a secondary system, so owners are content with games on other consoles/PC to fill in the gaps
- Wii U owners only bought it to play Nintendo games, and will rally behind Mario
Since when the Wii U is considered a "secondary system"?That Wii U owners have not rallied behind any particular titles suggests a few things:
- weak online community so there is minimal WoM selling any title past launch
- owned primarily as a secondary system, so owners are content with games on other consoles/PC to fill in the gaps
- Wii U owners only bought it to play Nintendo games, and will rally behind Mario and Mario alone this fall.
Terrible second month for Pikmin 3. It performed better than TW101, but >60% month-over-month drops isn't good for Nintendo (or confidence in Wii U software) at all.
Really? Mario has far broader appeal than any of those games. They're all good, Mario included, but the others definitely appeal to a more niche audience. You answered your own question; Wii U owners have disproportionately rallied around NSMB U. It boggles my mind how that game broke 2 mil yet W101 or MH3U or Pikmin haven't even broken 500K worldwide yet.
Actually, if Pikmin 3 had a 60 - 65% drop then it had a below average second month drop. In this case that hold would look even better since it was released at the beginning of the month (August 4 = 27 days).
I know, I know...I just get caught up in emotions once in a while.
There are so few games available for Wii U that I was certain Pikmin 3 was going to have a stronger retention getting closer to the holiday season, like Minecraft or Disney Infinity. :-(

This is very interesting. I got the impression that since the E3 reveal for the game was a bit weak, people are taking the improvement shown in the latest trailer out of proportion. When your lead PR guys voice echos "Mario, Zelda, Donkey Kong" with fist cupping in a rhythmic fashion over and over like some kind of mantra, there can't be too much of a surprise when those are the only properties that sell.
Will be interesting to see just how much 3D World can carry the WiiU at the end of the year, but people seem to have learned nothing from correlating W101 Trailer Hype to mass market reality. Its going to sell simply because its a Mario, but the world outside these forum walls isn't going to be breakdancing on the floor of a GameStop or Walmart screaming "BEST MARIO EVER WARRRGHHHHHHHHHHH" the second they see the boxart on a shelf.

I honestly don't know what you were expecting.
It tripled sales with a few releases and a minor price drop. That's actually pretty good. Increasing to that point with such meager fixes is a good sign for the platform. It wouldn't amount to a dominant position for it, but any sign of upward momentum at this point is encouraging.
It's been selling on average 30-40,000 units a month.
It will be very interesting to see what next week's presentation from Nintendo looks like. I hope they give us lots of things to pixel count, at the very least!
I'm ready for nothing, considering NPD has raised the threat levels to subscribers and the fact that the only remarkable thing they have to talk about are 3DS sales in Japan and France.
Maybe the 3DS being the best selling console worldwide this year will give them something to talk about. But even then, sales could be down yoy, giving them little reason to celebrate.
I'm afraid we'll be completely in the dark about the PS4 vs. XBO NPD battle in the coming years. May the best PR win.

No....no....no.....this makes me really sad. This and that the W101 did slightly below 20K. These two games were the most fun I have had in gaming in a very very very long time.
Sometimes one wonders, why do really good games do horribly, while arguably the ones with lesser quality do much better. Now, I am not saying these games like GTAV are bad by any means, they just feel that they are missing some of the charm that games like W101 and Rayman Legends deliver.
This makes a lot of sense. Only sad part is, theoretically speaking, if these games were released 7-10 years before, they would have actually gotten the sales they deserve, and in W101's case, the praise it deserves.rayman legends and w101 were made by smaller groups so the director's decisions were filtered through less people. kamiya and ancel are good examples of auteur game designers if the industry has them.
Thats true. Console monthly sales numbers are the fuel that keep the console wars going. Without good NPD numbers it'll be pretty funny.
Can anyone please make a summation of hardware deductions, if any at all? I already saw the aquamarine post about the top 10 software.
