The latest addition to our GTX family — the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 980 Ti — has arrived.

Our new flagship GeForce GPU is an amazing upgrade for gamers who haven’t yet jumped to a Maxwell GPU.

In fact, the GTX 980 Ti is up to 3X faster when compared to a GTX 680.

It features 6GB of memory and enough CUDA cores to drive games at 4K. That makes it great for 4K gaming, and great for future games, too. The GTX 980 Ti also features support for Microsoft’s next-generation DirectX 12 graphics application programming interface.

We’ve supercharged all our GTX 900-series Maxwell GPUs with DX12 features that unlock the full promise of the new API. All Maxwell GPUs support DX12, including support for conservative raster and volume tiled resources. This means developers can do more with their games on Maxwell than on any other GPU.

I kind of figured this might come in "cheap". I noticed that the prices for a reg 980 were dropping. I am tempted to pick this up now. Real tempted.

I'm ordering two. SLI 780s, while awesome over the years, are starting to show their VRAM limits at 1440p. Going to 980tis will not only allow for better performance, but downsampling from beyond native.

I'm bloody excited now!

Owner of a 970 I really want this card, badly. I feel Batman Arkham Knight will need this range of hardware for max settings at 1080p.

This is a despicable practice on NVIDIA's part and shows their true character. How dare they release this just to spite AMDs release of their new cards. Hopefully AMD will out perform with their HBM. Just goes to show, the only thing NVIDIA cares about is money. Hmph.

Joke post? Companies like Apple do this all the time.

This is double what I'm willing to spend on a GPU, but it's nice that the price isn't as out of whack as it was expected to be. Means midrange GPU prices can't be pushed upward much higher (for now).

Kind of wonder if there was a Vita sort of thing going on with higher price rumors floating around so the real price would look a lot more appealing in comparison.

So in the USA you pay $175tax for a $650 card?
As an EU resident, my knowledge tells me it depends upon the State in the U.S. as well as from where it was purchased (e-tailers can avoid sales tax in some places).

Even then, it is rarely as high as a VAT.
Wait until the R9 300 series before saying this.

RIP AMD

the 300 series are probably just rebadged 200 series

Fuck yes...gonna retire my 780 for this. Will try to pony up the cash for this bad boy within the next two months, hopefully.
